Mobile Dating Campaign on Jumptap

All right, first follow along campaign here, I thought I could do something original

I've been doing very good on Facebook dating, I aim to do the same on mobile.

I'll be starting a mobile dating campaign on Jumptap.

Offer: BeNaughty

Payout: 1.70$

Budget: 100 a day for each campaigns

I'll be creating 2 campaigns: One for Android phones and one for the rest (outside of iOS.

Attached is the LP of the offer

Any tips for that type of campaign before I launch everything?

Let's make an epic thread out of this campaign

edit: It looks like I can't upload the LP as I'm logged in my client's network, I'll do that when I get back to the office.

Did some testing on that offer before and it converts for sure

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

I'd split out apps vs web as well. Good luck this could be one of those 1/1000 threads

08-26-2011 12:28 PM #5 numerouno (Member)

Haha I just created this thread quickly like that but seeing all those thanks, I feel compelled to do something good.

So here I go, building ads this morning.

I got around 25 versions of ads done, for all mobile banners sizes : 120x20 - 168x28 - 216x36 - 300x50 - 300x250 and 320x48

I'm gonna plug 5 versions of each sizes for the 2 campaigns (Android & Other devices)

Tracking is all set, will be using HasOffer & postback URL as it's usually better for mobile.

The minimum bid for Android is $0.11, I will be bidding this but as soon as the campaign is built, I'll ask my rep to lower this to 0.08 or 0.07 as she suggested.

Still wondering if I should build a LP for it? Any clue on that? I'll probably split test this anyway.

So I'll be tracking these info with the Jumptap tracking system : JT_HANDSET - JT_OPERATOR - JT_PUBLISHER - JT-SITE

That's it, loading ads right now, which is pretty damn long, will keep you guys posted.

Ho and I forgot, the first thing I will test will be apps vs web as Angry Russian suggested.

All right, around 20 ads uploaded, I didn't upload the mini sizes, am I making a mistake with that? Otherwise, mail is sent to my rep, I asked her to weed out their usual bad performers from scratch, last time I asked she refused but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask.

1.70 cpa on a .10 click is really hard to get profitable.... UNLESS ITS SUPER TARGETING and most mobile app ads are mistake clicks... just my 2 cents

08-26-2011 03:01 PM #9 numerouno (Member)

Right, I'll be on 0.05 for feature phone and 0.07 for Android phones

08-26-2011 05:51 PM #10 steezy (Member)

.05 for feature? I need to get back on the phone with them. Ever since the Jumptap rep told me I need to spend at least $600/day to get data worth anything I sorta shut him out of my mind.

08-26-2011 06:50 PM #11 numerouno (Member)

So far got some clicks on both campaigns but havent got any conversions yet, not looking good but I keep the campaigns on to get some data

08-27-2011 04:06 AM #12 numerouno (Member)

All right, some stats for the day:

and my spending :

Let's say that the ROI is pretty bad there, but we can have some hope at some places and this is why I need to keep on gathering data. If I had a bigger budget I think my data would be more relevant but I'll keep it that way.

Now I ask myself how I can bring this campaign to a profit. First of all I need to find a way to kill that pub who send me 1.5k traffic with no conversions. That's a shame. Then I need to find a way to improve my CR!! Maybe a landing page will do? What do you guys think?

08-28-2011 02:45 AM #13 numerouno (Member)

Another day of traffic, same budget, same kind of results. I see one publisher who's looking to be interested (volume and conversion wise), but I need to stop the campaign until monday so a rep can delete the bad performing publishers so I can get data without wasting my money. Still at 1% CTR for Feature phone so I'm happy with that

08-28-2011 07:15 AM #14 Mr Green (Administrator)

You should try rotate some other dating offers in there (e.g meet moi). Are your ads broad or are they benaughty branded?

Are you able to get rid of any models that are not pulling their weight? And yes it will def help if you get rid of that shitty pub!

i have just started using jumptap. I ran a campaign selecting "yes" to append tracking parameters but when I run a report I am unable to see the pub id and site id. Do i have to manually append these parameters? is it possible to know which websites are sending me the clicks?

09-05-2011 11:12 AM #16 Mr Green (Administrator)

Yes you have to manually append the parameters at the end of your url. You can find them here https://support.jumptap.com/index.php/CreatingAd_en_3.1

You can track the publisher IDs and tell jumptap to pause certain ones. Or...if you want to go direct with a website you can use 202 to see a bit of referral leakage.

ok so the destination link would look like this

http://jrtux.com/click/?s=00000&c=00000?jt-publisher=<publisher id>&jt-handset=<handset name>

i've used a neverblue url here, also do i have to actually type 'publisher id' between the brackets or should it be blank like jt-publisher=<>

i use destination link like this format:
HTML Code:
http://jrtux.com/click/?s=00000&c=00000?&subid=jumptapad1,JT_OPERATOR,JT_HANDSET,JT_KEYWORD,JT_PUBLISHER,JT_SITE
append tracking parameters to destination url: No

so when you check report on neverblue you will see all parameters in "Subid" column like:
jumptapad1, T-Mobile_USA, android_generic, runofnetwork, Xo6GjFjkqp06DW4NTUoPvOY9xY8, QFg4YGxQOd_mxHL9rasvJGWExjc

Curious on how Has-offers is working for you mobile wise? I know you don't have a control group to compare it to (like202) but how are the click discrepancy's? Do jumptap and H-O match up?

09-05-2011 03:37 PM #20 naildog (Member)

@numerouno: I suggest making a simple, mobile-friendly LP with a little bit of sales pitch/angle to it and an image or button that sends the user to the normal (not mobile-optimized) version of the BeNaughty offer. It's a joke that the advertisers make a "mobile-optimized" version of the offer and then cut the commission in half or more. It's not like that subscriber is worth any less than a guy on a laptop. Using the normal offer on a mobile phone works best when the offer page has a small signup box/area and not a lot of graphics. Android and iPhone users can easily scroll to the signup box, zoom in a bit and enter their details. Works great and pays twice as much or more.

Forgot to mention that on the mobile LP i even tell the user to click on the link below, scroll to the right and enter their info...

09-06-2011 03:16 AM #22 The Angry Russian (Moderator)

I don't recommend using an LP with mobile. Unless you're on a serious server and your pages are lighting fast your going to be creating another barrier between you and the conversion.

Looks like your campaign has potential just block the shitty publisher.

Append tokens with 202 like this c1=JT_SITE and in your reports you'll see which sites are showing up. Also, check your referrer data in 202.

09-07-2011 02:08 AM #23 naildog (Member)

I should clarify that the offer I'm running doesn't have a mobile-optimized version, and Admob wouldn't let me throw traffic at a non-mobile-friendly page. That's how I ended up with LPs. I run them on a VPS and they're very thin pages, so I don't think I'm losing much to load speed. As long as the ROI is there, hooray!

I started doing this before mobile offers became popular, so I am a little cynical about the low payouts associated with the mobile-optimized versions. That said, due to Russian's comments, I'm going to try some of those offers and compare results. Maybe the conversion rate will offset the low payout. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong!

On the contrary - I've found that mobile subscribers tend to be of MUCH lower quality. Do your own lead gen on mobile and you'll soon discover:

-emails are spelled incorrectly / crap emails are entered more often than on the web
-people input mobile-only emails (your AR followups will never see a PC)
-even with phone numbers, which are higher quality, it's hard to target properly so you get people who are mismatched to your offer

Finally, it's much easier to get a web subscriber to pull out a credit card and pay. Unless you can do carrier billing, your mobile leads will not turn into $$$ quite as readily.

Just my 2 cents.
