Serious issues with tracking in Voluum and Affiliate Network

I'm facing a very weird issue while running a campaign on Decisive, tracking it in Voluum and my affiliate network.

I setup tracking with Voluum looking at Zeno's awesome video tutorial. So here's what I did:

So in Decisive, it shows that I've got 21 + 37 + 21 + 20 = 99 clicks, hence it should be showing me 99 visits (or lesser in case there was some click loss but which shouldn't be there given I've direct linked and not have any LP in between) in Voluum right? Well, guess what?! Voluum's showing 199 visits, 100 more than what I've got. In addition to that, Voluum says that there's traffic from US, Germany and China as well. No idea why this is happening.

Now let's talk about my affiliate network. It's showing 120 unique clicks (130 total clicks, so 69 clicks missing from the weird number Voluum is reporting). Add to that the fact my network says that I'm running 3 more offers which I have no idea about and tracking that too.

An interesting pattern that I noticed though is this: So the 3 random offer my network says I'm running are actually running in a) US b) Germany and other European countried and c) China. So there's some correlation between what Voluum is tracking and what it's sending to my network. Now I'm not sure if this is an issue with the tracking that I've setup in Voluum or the traffic Decisive is sending.

PS: I have a follow along tracking my journey where I asked this question too but there hasn't been any replies on it and I was getting restless and hence asked here again in a separate thread)

I presume you are targeting India?

Step 1: drill down into the data in Voluum and look at Country > ISP. Chances are most of the US clicks are from automated ad reviews or Decisive reviewers, or some server-based system.

Step 2: look at the ISP/country/device data in Decisive and get a feel for where stuff is coming from. Cross-check with Voluum. Decisive will filter some traffic and not charge you for it (I presume) which may result in clicks getting through to Voluum that aren't counted in Decisive. Also, some users will double click ads when they don't see pages being loaded, or they may refresh the browser, etc. When things are slow, users get impatient.

Step 3: sort out your geo-redirection in Voluum. You are sending clicks from China, US and Germany that aren't eligible to convert on your offer. Your affiliate network doesn't want to waste those clicks that could potentially bring revenue, so they redirect them to 'catch-all' offers, in this case some app wall. Let me be clear: geo-redirection by networks is a pain in the ass, but the fact a mixture of non-Indian traffic is getting sent through to the India offer URL is your fault, and you need to fix that. You can do this by adding rules to your Voluum campaign that say "if user geo = India > send to affiliate link, else send to some other URL" (e.g. offer page directly or a clean catch-all of your own that allows global traffic).

As for why you are getting a mix of traffic... first thing to do is remove the reviewer clicks that come from Decisive (presumably the US clicks) and investigate further. Check the app/site IDs and this will better show you if you are getting charged for the clicks. Also remember that some platforms use different databases so there can be some disagreement - it's all based on a congested IP-space that's changing and will eventually be abandoned.

It's Decisive bots checking your landers, nothing to worry about.

They usually send between 20 to 70 clicks before campaign even starts. Yeah, all bots. So I start campaigns paused, and reset stats before unpausing.

'The Jedi' replied himself Thanks Zeno!

Another major issue that I'm facing right now is that opening the campaign url, generated by Voluum, in Chrome on my Nexus 5 doesn't open up the Google Playstore. So I tracked the url flow as Zeno shows in his video tutorial and this is what happens:

So basically I load my campaign url along with some test url parameters in Chrome on my desktop, which looks like this : http://5hrmg.voluumtrk.com/b8896d87-...bdjvbjdbvvvndn , this returns 200 and sends to http://5hrmg.redirectvoluum.com/redi...MNZ0SI%3D&rm=D which gets 200 and send to http://mmtrkdb.com/mt/w26403c484x233...O1E77L0J4U9J64 which gets a 302 and sends to http://click.union.ucweb.com/index.p..._trans_2=some5 which returns 'canceled' status, which probably is because the redirect service of UC Union detects that I'm on desktop. Fair enough, I opened the same campaign url now on my Chrome on Nexus 5 and my browser stopped at the redirect url which looks like http://5hrmg.redirectvoluum.com/redirect?target= and doesn't lead to UC Union's redirect service because of which the Google Playstore doesn't open. Also FWIW I get a 404 on http://5hrmg.voluumtrk.com/favicon.ico as you can see in the screenshot above.

So this is the issue I'm stuck at Any ideas?

Never mind, the redirect issue fixed automatically. I guess it was some issue with Voluum's redirect urls.

So the issue is back. Now it's opening the Google Play Store when I'm opening in Firefox for Android but it doesn't work when opening in Chrome for Android. Pretty frustrating to launch the campaign now. Right now paused the campaigns since don't know how many users are ending up this way.
