Thanks to all of our beta testers. We've had some good feedback and appreciate you all helping us to make AVID an awesome ad server. The new features will be going live tomorrow. We are opening the beta up for another 5 testers. PM me, or go to avidadserver.com if you're interested.
Question: what hierarchy or arrangement do you use for deploying campaigns?
On other ad servers you have things like zones, flights, campaigns, etc.
In all honesty I found these terms and the arrangement of things to be really non-intuitive and almost time wasting. I jumped in a few and the act of even making a simple campaign to get an ad tag which served some banners in rotation was such a roundabout with so many prerequisites.
Rather, it would be easier to add "Ad Networks" or "Direct Publishers" and maybe assign these networks/pubs some tags like verticals, allowed banner sizes, etc.
Then, when making a campaign you can just select a) where you are running it and b) create ad groups for specific angles/banner sizes/ad types and so on, much like when making campaigns in a tracking system.
In any case, rant aside, the ad server looks nice so far at least from the site and features. Impression recycling is a critical inclusion, nice job.
The hierarchy is broken down by publisher, placement, adgroup, and ad. Very similar to Sitescout.
Thank you to all of our beta users. We will officially launch 8/3/15.
Here are some new features that have been added last week:
Ability to clone/copy Publishers, Placements, and Ad Groups
CPA added as a cost metric for placements
Delete buttons added for all levels
White label features - ability to customize your domain
Postback added as a pixel method
Sorry, but we are no longer taking beta users at this time. AVID Ad Server will officially launch on 8/3/2015. Pricing can be found here: avidadserver.com/pricing.html. As a pre-order bonus, those who sign up before 8/3/2015 can get our 10mil impression level account for $500/month instead of the normal $600/month. PM me for more details.
Has anyone compared this with other entry-level ad servers like sitescout?
Big update to our reporting features coming this weekend. A lot of these were suggested by current users to make their lives easier and to give them more insight into the ads they were running. Here's a screen shot of the sub id breakdown section.
In addition to being able to pass through up to 5 sub ids and drill down by three variables, you'll also be able to group by device type, IP Address, referrer, carrier/ISP, country, and browser.

1. What is the back end like? How many servers? How much traffic can you guys handle?
2. What architecture has it got behind it? nginx, litespeed, other?
3. Hosting? running via AWS? private datacenter? third party provider? who?
4. What database solution/engine does it rely on? SQL, PostgreSQL? DynamoDB? Google SQL?
5. What coding language is it written in? PHP, Python other?
6. What source? is it based of open source adserver like revive, or other?
7. What geo targeting source is it using? maxmind, other?
8. Can we see speed benchmarks that will make us want to use you instead of other established platforms?
Sorry, I like to be thorough
Hey Bobliu,
PM me and we can discuss your questions. Sorry for the late response.
One of the goals of AVID Ad Server is to be responsive to the needs of our clients. We just finished a round of client requested updates that has given AVID more functionality than the competition. Check out our new features here: http://blog.avidadserver.com/ad-serv...latest-update/.
As we prepare for the next round of updates we want feedback from the STM community on which feature you would like to see in your ideal ad server.
Please click the link to answer this one question survey on which feature you would like to see AVID work on next.
