sporadic ups and downs for conversions. I can't explain why

I would love to here experts opinion...I am running adult and doing +ROI for the most part. But sometimes with no real change to campaign or landers...the CV drops significantly and I end up losing money real fast and than the next day its + again. For example here is a screen shot from today...the first couple of hours today it looks like it was going to be a +day than CV drops like crazy and I end up losing money today. The CTR for landers remained the same in some cases it improved but the conversion just didn't happen. I had to pause the campaign cuz I was losing money so fast lol. Also I have asked my AM about this...he doesn't know either.

I looked at the offer page and the 1 things I noticed today was that the logo had an external link, weird. Maybe I am losing conversion because of that. I do not if it was there before...I asked my AM he said he will look into it. I quickly went on WRW and I saw that and the same offers and they all had it. But its weird it has an external link. BTW its a sign up offer. I did end up running another offer that did not have an external link, but same Sh$t!

Sorry forgot the add that I was only running one offer at one time...so I couldn't compare offers. Tommorow plan to sign up with another network that has same offer and compare and see when CV drops does it drop at the same time for both offers...if that the case I know traffic source quality has dropped?

Your thoughts? Is this normal ups and downs? Or something is up?

Totally normal I would think with this volume.

Personally, i look at the average over time, a day, week or month with 1 traffic source and that number (CR, EPC, eCPM) is what I go by in terms of predicting what i can afford to bid, net figures, scalability, ETC
CR, for me has always fluctuated with low volume.
CR becomes much more stable with much larger volume.
Soooooo many variables to say "This is why CR is fluctuating". I'd say mostly this is due to an 'hourly' interval perspective coupled with low volume.

If there's an external link on the offer people are clicking, that would lower CR but depends on how many ppl are click it! lol
Good idea to spin the offer on other networks! Let us know how it goes.

Looks like you got a campaign cultivating nicely! Awesome

Or the advertiser is starting to scrub my leads as the volume of clicks went up!

Because the world is not static ...

Conversion ratios tend to fluctuate with better conversions being in the evening hours of North America for us. If you're looking for conversions by the hour then run the campaign for a few days and find your best hours then run it only in that range to save yourself $$

Also, if it's a PPS offer then the credit card submit quality of the users are another variable you have to consider. They could be submitting gift cards, over-the-limits cards, etc.
Yet another variable to consider is how the advertiser is processing the credit cards i.e. direct merchant processing or IPSP (CC Bill, Epoch, etc).

The best you could do is test the same offer on different networks, as well as a different offer from a different advertiser altogether.

If you're testing the same offer on multiple networks and the CVR still drops unexpectedly during the same hours on both offers, then it's either bad hours to run it or hours the advertiser scrubs.

I remember running a content billing offer when I was still relatively new and every day I'd see conversions completely shut off for chunks of hours at a time. Like from 9pm to 11pm then resume normally. Same thing happened on multiple networks at the same time with the same offer.

I got ticked off so I sent an email directly to the advertiser asking them to stop scrubbing me from x to x hours. They wrote back apologizing and said it was actually the carrier in the country that prevented the conversions during those hours. I don't know if that was true or not, but those mysterious outages went away.

yeah man, way to little data to know anything. how many conversions are you doing a day?

Yes the adv was scrubbing my leads due to bad quality. My gut feeling told me something wasn't right because I had been running this offer for a week or two. Always trust your data
