What are "Lite-Clicks" on Clickdealer (CAKE)?
I'm receving quite some for some offers only.
Thanks!
They explained it to me like they are not collecting all information about those clicks, so they are more "lite" on their system.
this is what my AM said:
Can someone translate that for me? It makes no sense at all.
This means that they don't need all data about click and they don't store it in their database.
So in this case I think that affiliate networks are not able to set custom redirects based on listed click/visit properties:
a regular click via Cake will register around 20 different data points
like IP, GEO, Handset model, carriers, ISP, subgeo, etc etc etc
In this case I can't see difference between Clicks and Lite-Clicks for affiliates. Maybe offers that are managed with Lite-Clicks will have slightly faster redirect because some data store actions a omitted.
I hate cake!
Hi guys,
Regular or light clicks on Cake are same for affiliates. Light clicks simply register less data about each click.
For Cake light clicks mean less data to store, for affiliates it means faster redirects, faster stats load time.
Tim, you see light click stats on some of your offers because at this point we implemented those on offers that get most clicks volume.
what's the benefit for you? less costs per click?
To me this sounds like throwing away data because the systems slow down if a lot of data is logged. If not logging some data = substantially faster redirects then IMO the systems should be improved. That would be a problem for Cake, not Clickdealer. I mean... the time spent logging and processing this kind of data is mere milliseconds.
It could also be that 'lite' clicks are cheaper per click - Cake presumably charges on a volume basis where identifying device models, makes, locations, etc. requires licensing from various detection partners which also costs money (though, I would hope it's all hosted by Cake at which point they would not be charged on a per-volume basis).
In any case, if it doesn't limit you, don't worry too much about it. But the data whore in me is cringing a little.
Well, it that works for Clickdealer I guess it's fine. Their Cake system is one of the slowest I've ever seen.
It depends on the volume and traffic, but their platform is definitely slower than the rest and it's easy to see.
