Launched 1st campaign - Tracking driving me nuts!

So, I finally launched my first test campaign (Yay!) But the tracking is driving me nuts. So far $5 spent for today out of my $20 daily budget, and here are my stats from 3 different sources.

Voluum

Go2Mobi

Adsimilis

What am I doing wrong?

You should tell others more about what you did on those 3 sources, such as tracking links, postback,... or just watch this tutorial video from zeno http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ll-Video-Guide

Hey getoutsg,

You are not doing anything wrong.

While there is a minor discrepancy, which always happens, you do not have enough data to see if there is any major one.

The order to treat this is Traffic Source (Go2Mobi) -> Tracker (Voluum) -> Network (Adsimilis). Let me explain, if its too basic, please excuse.

Go2Mobi:
Bids = 12591 = This is the number of times the network bid to show your ad.
Wins = 10346 = The number of times your bid won and your ad was displayed
Clicks = 149 = Number of times the user clicked on your ads

Voluum:
Visits = Clicks in Go2Mobi (Ideally 149) = 197. Normally this will be lower than 149, but I think Go2Mobi might not be billing you for duplicate clicks from the same user.
Clicks = 9 = The number of times user clicked on your landing page.

Adsimilis:
Clicks = Clicks in Voluum (Ideally 9) = 4. This might be the number of unique clicks (as your AM). If a user clicks on a landing page twice, Voluum will record it as 2, but the unique click is 1.

My suggestions:
- You are winning a lot of bids in Go2Mobi, so you are bidding high enough I think.
- You need to work on Ads that give you high CTR. Aim for 3-5%. (Remember that you are not trying to sell your product here, you are just trying to catch the user's attention. [AIDA?]. You can sell the product on the landing page.)
- Work on your landing page and try to improve its CTR. Aim for 20 to 80%. Depending on traffic source and offer type and of course the landing page itself.

Good luck!

Hey @arunbasillal

Thanks so much for helping me clarify this to such detail! Would you pause the campaign, optimize the banners and landing page, then restart the campaign?
Or keep it going while I'm optimizing (1 day)?

Cheers

Need more info to decide that man. Like, what is your offer payout and what is your cost so far.

If the offer pays 0.3$ and you have already spent 15$, with zero conversions, then imo you should pause it and start over with new angles and ads.

Otherwise, normally I would let the Ad run for a couple of days before I pause it. CTR of 1.44% is not that bad actually. Its average.

The offer payout is $1.82 and I've just spent my first day's $20 budget. To be on the safe side, I have just uploaded 2 more banners and 2 more new landing pages so I'm going to pause it for a day to wait for the new creatives to be approved before resuming the campaign.

Considering that today is Sunday (normally a high conversion day for most verticals. Users have more time to interact with your ads and landers), I wouldn't pause the campaign since you already have a creative that is giving you an average CTR and since the offer payout is 1.82.

I would split test landers aggressively today instead.

It's so funny that you suggested that, because after I entered my reply to you earlier - this was exactly what I decided to do.

Added in 2 landers and continued the campaign. I'm sure my AM will approve my new creatives first thing tomorrow, so I'm not too worried about them.

Question: How did you get to 50x payout to pause a campaign? I came across somewhere on STM that mentioned a 3x payout per placement before stopping the campaign, but haven't noticed a 50x ratio anywhere before.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting a 50x payout spend. I was just saying that if you have spent that much already, then you definitely HAVE to pause it.

The rule of thumb is 10x for low payouts and 3x for high payouts. Note that this is just a fast route to optimize the campaign, once you have an angle that works, you have to test them on these blocked placements to see their performance with the winning angle and get more traffic.
