Otherwise, post your questions below!
Drew,
If you were to distill your views into just 3 top things that copywriters should or should not do when writing ads (especially for affiliate marketing) what would these three things be?
What is your best piece of creative that you have ever written, and why?
What is the #1 lesson you have learnt from your own mistakes?
doctor,
what is the best way to sell to a cynical market?
thank you
doctor,
They say copywriting is 20% of the game. And that an offer people want is 60% of the game (The other 20% is good prospects). If you agree with this, how to find that offer people want to get the highest leverage? And not being critical, but really curious: Why there are so many courses in copy, but few in finding "what people want" (offer)?
What major differences have you seen across different countries and different cultures that should cause affiliate marketers to rethink or adapt some of the suggestions provided in your books?
What are some examples of great copy that may work amazingly in the U.S. for example, but may fail miserably in, say Germany or China, and vice versa?
how comes copy-writing come into the framework of a company? there is a specific crowd that's already chosen, there are employees doing it which has less knowledge, and may not have the time to acquire all of it, perhaps just 20-30% of whatever we know. what variables do we have to consider when its being applied by people who are not exactly experts? how do we set them on a simple learning journey to discover more about these variables through their work?
the focus of the company is on many other things other than copy-writing, how do we set up a learning journey based on a few variables that keeps going on?
the end goal would be someone who cannot even write proper english, nor know the product well, is able to write convincing copy (together with images) that converts and improve on it consistently. i have seen many people that is able to do this, yet sometimes they cannot completely explain what they do, but is able to replicate consistently, better and better each time. copy writing has become their edge in their company, their winning advantage.
Hello Drew "Dr Direct" Whitman!
Thank you so much for this opportunity; I've followed your work online and love what you do.
Here's my question: I'm a copywriter who is looking to work with people who do a lot of affiliate marketing. Any advice for someone like me who wants to partner with people who are active affiliate marketers?
If you were an affiliate marketer, what traffic source, what kind of promotion and what method to promote you'd be using today?
Doctor, how would you sell anything to anyone on Facebook?
Last chance to ask the Dr of Direct Marketing anything! We are going to be presenting him with the questions very soon!
Given the major shift toward mobile internet usage (and therefore exposure to advertising via mobile devices), what changes to traditional ad copy principles, sales letter structuring, psychological exploits, etc., would you recommend marketers make to adapt? Or in your experience what significant differences have you observed?
> what are your top three marketing/copywriting books?
> what blogs/podcasts/marketers do you read/listen to/respect/look up to?
> What three things do you know now, that you wish you knew back when you were starting out?
> If you could only choose three principals from your book to market with for the remainder of your career, what would they be?
> How should marketers change their approach to counter the proliferation of online content (click bait headlines & content) and the increase in banner blindness (exposure to ads online/on mobile)
> Have you discovered any other principals since releasing Cashvertising that you think are worthy of adding?
Any other questions?
This thread will be closing at the end of the day, and we'll be compiling the questions then.
Remember to vote on your favourite questions by hitting Thanks, too!
OK, we've compiled these questions now, and we'll be getting answers to the top questions from Drew soon! Look out for them!
Doctor, can you tell me what this thing on my foot is? hahaha! jk
Question: Why do you think crappy looking ads online usually perform significantly better than the more professional looking, more polished ads? Thank you!
Was there ever an update to this?
@raymondduke - Drew's been dealing with some health issues in his family, so the interview with him has been postponed for the time being. However, the interview with Dan Ariely is now live - Part 1 here, Part 2 coming this week!
It's BACK FROM THE GRAVE!
Yes, the STM Ask The Expert interview with Drew is happening - NEXT WEEK.
So if you have any more questions for Dr Direct himself, the author of Ca$hvertising, now's the time - post 'em here! I'll be compiling them for Drew on Friday, so you have two days to get your questions in.
What's your view on ethics in marketing, where would you draw a line that should not be crossed in an attempt to sell more? In this world of cloaking, aggressive - exaggerating methods of promotion and all kinds of scare-tactics ... should ROI be the only metrics to consider when writing a sales copy?
What are some of the most common mistakes that copywriters make?
Are there any more secrets of ad agency psychology? If there are, can you tell us a few?
I'm going to cheekily drop a question of my own in!
We've talked a lot about words here: but what about the "copywriting" of images? What are the three most important elements to images in ads, on the Internet in particular?
Looking forward to this as well as his speech at Affiliate World Europe!
