Changes on Facebook Advertising Guidelines

What to expect now? high cpc and competition from the states and casinos?

First, we now allow the promotion of offline casinos or other legal gambling establishments provided the ads are appropriately targeted. We continue to prohibit the promotion of online gambling in the U.S, but may allow ads for online gambling and games of skill in other countries with our prior authorization. We also now allow authorized state and national lottery commissions to advertise to users of the appropriate age within the lottery's jurisdiction.
easing on diet now?
Secondly, we have clarified our guidelines around pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements. We continue to prohibit ads promoting the sale or distribution of prescription pharmaceuticals and online pharmacies, but we will allow the promotion of legal dietary supplements that don't contain certain prohibited ingredients.

the economy must be hitting them hard as well, or they are ramping up for 4th quarter which is where all companies push for higher revenue.

Makes sense. These are two HUGE sectors that they've been missing out.

Casino/gambling offers where always allowed through private buys (I think the limit was $20k).

Diet - now that the rebill thing was dealt with by the FTC they probably feel more comfortable about allowing related offers.

It does open up some new opportunities for us. Facebook will always be competitive. There will come a point where rising costs will level out. It happened with Adwords and will happen with facebook.

Yeah - I've noticed a few casino/gambling ads in the past month. Used to spin me out a little - always thought they were blatantly against the TOS. Private 20k buys hey.... reminds me of the dating ad I saw on the 'premium' advertising space that literally looked like two girls were about to make out. Always thought how the fuck that got approved... money talks.

Hopefully they are getting a little more lax about the advertising with the 4th quarter coming up.

I also swear that they used an image of mine as one of the disallowed ads On the positive note, at least they are more specific now!

Anyone know the deal with Online Gambling internationally?

I did a quick test on a small account and got "The content promoted in your ad is not permitted on Facebook." Help centre still referred to: "Facebook does not accept advertisements that promote online gambling through our self-service advertising channel.

Gambling advertising may be available through a direct sales partnership with Facebook. These partnerships require a minimum monthly spend of $30,000 USD. Please contact us if this is something you are interested in. "

I know the space very well and want to jump on it...
