Any reasons why you need to use one?

You could always just make them custom on your own server, e.g. mydomain.com/ww233m where that folder just contains an index.php with a header redirect.

Zeno, please elaborate. Are you referring to a landing page? If so will your recommendation work if you're hosted to something like hostgator (i.e. not your own server)?
While on the topic of landing pages, if you own your own server, can you make random pages for each specific lander without having to pay for a new domain name for each specific vertical you are targeting?
