I'm intrigued;
In my short time doing this job (8 months) I've had to endure CAKE platforms for the most part. Maybe 8/10 networks i'm in seem to keep using it.
I can't be alone here in thinking that the user interface is properly unuser friendly?
Across the board i've experienced these problems quite frequently.
The dashboard and other pages don't load properly some days and i'm missing 200px off the right side of the screen. Therefore I can't select dates. Last week one network had a large ad that covered all the options on the left column, therefore I couldn't do anything! How ironic the publisher annoyed by an ad...
The data will sometimes tell me different figures depending on which page i'm looking on. 10 conversions on the dash = 7 conversions on the reports overview = 5 conversions on the conversion report. Next day the conversions could read anything!
The search capability for offers on all networks using it is truly dreadful. Select 'dating' get sweepstakes. Select a Geo, get every offer in every geo. Completely pointless most of the time.
Overall properly slow too.
There are other networks which have awesome interfaces. Sure not perfect. But way, way easier than Cake. And they usually display conversions in a cool way so when you log in on a good day, you feel like a badass seeing a red tab with numbers in it or some sweet graph.
It seems seriously outdated to me. I'd of thought with all the genius computer programers in this industry that someone would of cottoned on to this. Debugged it, made the search work so you could actually find what you wanted, then sold it back to the many networks that are using it?

Just pondering it and wondered it anyone else shares my hatred?
Tomale
Country filter never work haha
Count me in bro.
The switch isn't easy, so maybe that's why they don't bother. Plus I am not sure if anyone complains.
I hate some networks with hasoffers platform too, but then there are some networks that use the hasoffers platform and the interface is so good.
The pub side of cake is 3% of it. I agree it's not amazing. But the power and flexibility on the netor just side is currently unparalleled.
I call it a Swiss Army knife. Has Offer is a hunting knife, one purpose and does it well. CAKE is not amazing at anything anything but it's between a 7-9 at most things. As a company this flexibility allows us build systems and infrastructure no other platforms can provide.
P.S. I've run a company on Directtrack and Hitpath for 2 years each. On a scale of 1-10 Cake is a 100 compared. Again all about flexibility.
Cake is the best of the worst. Their support is horrible as soon as you want to do something outside of the basics.
There is definitely a big need for a shake up in the platform space.
I kinda guessed it was the best current platform out there as top networks like A4D are still using it.
I'm just amazed that this industry, with some of the world's top, designers, programmers, coders etc who are all using it and yet none of them have offered to iron out the bugs or just fix the dam geo search for a hefty fee?
I mean how many networks are using it?
How much would they fork out for a much needed upgrade or pay top dollar for a newer, better, platform altogether?
Surely some wiz reading this must think it's worth a few weeks/ months work?
I have a dream, that one day, maybe not in my life time, but one day; I'll select RU or Russia and offers will show that are for Russia...
We can all dream I guess. Until that day I'll continue on - squinting at my screen for the geo tags whilst I scroll!
Cheers !
They're mainly focusing on the background, the network side etc must be amazing, but honestly they could do a lot better on the affiliate panel, it's horrible, visually, practically, just awful.
Here's to hoping the next big thing in networks platforms will be made in CodeWise, now those guys know how to be awesome on all fronts
Man, when I read this thread this thought crossed my mind. Why not
