Adult from a network's point of view

The online marketing industry is one of the fastest to embrace change. Adult channel is still one of the main forces driving the Internet and probably always will be. Why? Because before the existence of Google, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube, there has been an adult industry. Actually, if you think about it, adult industry can be held partially responsible for the development of streaming video, lowering prices of web hosting, credit card processing. It is even partially responsible for the development of affiliate marketing. Sex sells, there´s no mystery about it – so why not to take advantage of it in affiliate marketing. In our point of view, it’s one of the ´cleanest´sectors – because users get exactly what they ask for.

At the same time, days of free adult profit are sadly behind us. Bidding in Top tier 1 countries on many top networks, like Exoclick or Traffic Junky has become a mission almost impossible. The prices of adult traffic in biggest markets are insanely high. Still, making nice revenues is very likely if you take into consideration few steps:

- Right offer: You can choose from plenty of adult offers, both mobile & Web. You are able to target different OS, Carriers, Devices etc. At the start-up choose wisely 1,2 or three offers and stick to them in order to test them on different sources and make profit.

- Be wise about the creative material. Adult web and mobile sector have kind of gone ´back to basics´, use simple, generic banners instead of creatives that seem very professionally shot. Don´t forget to test offer on pop unders and redirects. There is a reason why Live Jasmine and other Cam companies are able to advertise their services on most adult websites from the globe. Pops and Redirect work particularly well on mobile.

- Give a shot to subscription offers. The adult industry has put a lot of effort to develop subscription offers due to retention, that users are being charged in exchange of new content. It is a manner of making money not only at the conversion point. Still, choose offers that inform users extremely clearly about the conditions of the offers. This way you escape further complaints from users about being misguided.

- Embrace traditional PPV traffic, especially for the offer that have simple conversion flow. What´s the advantage of good old PPV? The prices of this adult traffic are low. It can almost be seen as free adult traffic source. You don´t need to modify it too often. Also there is not that much competition for this source of traffic.

- Don´t be afraid of change. Nowadays adult apps are occupying bigger share of market than ever, easily competing with more traditional pin submit campaigns. Why? Because a lot of apps have one-click conversion flow, making it very easy for affiliates to convert.

- Try finding your niche, instead of setting up the offer targeting all OS in most popular countries; choose something very specific, like a particular carrier etc. Obviously the higher the payout, the more difficult it is to get a conversion. Your testing budget should reflect the price of each conversion. However, it is the same in all other verticals. You MUST be willing to take some risks and be ready to lose some money before getting it back. Still, always have a goal set up with CTR and CR that you will need to break even. Sometimes you can that the campaign won´t work for you just after few hours.

- Do not limit your traffic sources carefully. Obviously adult campaigns will work best on adult channels, but at the same time target male oriented sites like gambling which allow adult traffic. What I´m trying to say is that if a website has primarily guys´audience – adult campaigns may work.

Still not convinced? Well adult search is one of the biggest search topics in many countries, like Venezuela. It is really worth giving it a try. Other verticals experience their peaks and valleys but adult industry is pretty consistent.
