Ex CPA network employee - will it hinder my affiliate application?

Hey guys

As I've mentioned in my introduction post - I used to work for a CPA network last year. I am no longer with them and currently dwelling in the field of analytics. But it is through them that I managed to learn about AM. In my current day job I do come in contact with publishers quite a bit, but those publishers are public, big companies mostly.

My question is - now that I want to get started in AM, will my affiliate application to networks be hindered by the fact that I used to work for one? And should I disclose this information in my application? The network I was with is a competitor of many networks that you guys work with.

Thanks!

There's no reason this should be a problem, and you don't have to disclose it if you don't want to.

I'm in the same boat as you (ex AM) and I've never encountered any issues applying and getting approved for networks.

Thanks guys! Were you asked how did you discover AM and what did you answer?

Nope. Would see that as better not worse.

Agreed. You have a leg-up on most and will be welcomed by networks.

Why would it count against you?

I think quite the opposite.

Reason why I think it might affect me is because I was afraid that networks might be wary of the fact that I was an ex employee of their competitor. Also, I was thinking that they might be reluctant to let someone who knows the ins and outs of a network operation into the gates

Test

More often than not, our predictions are wrong. So test.

I guess only people trying to pull one over on your would be wary of letting you on their network?

As an AM who has a couple of affiliates who were former AM's, I can tell you it can be a huge benefit - they know the ins/outs of the industry and makes them better affiliates. I think you're overthinking it, but i'd definitely be up front about it if you're 'worried' about it.

So far, I've been rejected by click dealer and Matomy the other networks did accept me

As others have said, I think it will be a big benefit for you. You absolutely don't have to disclose it though, although I'm sure most AM's will be impressed with how much you already know in comparison to most affs.

Make sure to get as many skype details for AMs as possible and say hello after submitting applications
