what whitehat verticals work on facebook?
I know this is a very broad question, but I'd like to map the possibilities.
I'm thinking insurance, app installs, gaming both desktop and mobile.
what other non cloaked verticals am I missing ?

"Everything" works without cloaking long as you put in enough effort to not look straight up like an affiliate marketer.
Same with AdWords.

@equadox is very optimistic but look at Vitavee's post for a creative way to attack "greyish" offers :

I can't see any other solution than getting your prospects on a mailing list out of FB to market to them for greyish offers.
FB targeting is awesome and I know some made a killing with dating when it was still possible without cloaking but now I think you can only be white and direct or grey and indirect.

I would not say everything works. There are plenty of verticals that are strictly forbidden in fb or have high restrictions.
Generally speaking, the more mainstream the better when it comes to verticals. Game downloads for example should be fine for the most part.

You're absolutely right.
But when I say that "everything" does work – as long as you think outside the box – I'm speaking in terms of a broader social media marketing aspect. Obviously direct linking to a shady antivirus PIN submit would never work, but that doesn't mean that you can not promote antivirus PIN submit offers via Facebook (albeit indirectly, you use fb as your initial fuel source).
I'm talking about a fundamental change in the common affiliate marketer's mindset where you're not reliant on the immediate profit, but rather focus your efforts on creating a longer lasting sales funnel (where your leads don't immediately convert, but when they do convert, they'll convert 10X as hard). Most affiliates will never put in the effort to make this work, and if that sounds like you, stick to "clean" offers, like gaming (not directed at you
cmdeal, I know you have a very firm understanding of the effectiveness of building long term relationships with your leads).
Show me any offer (that's not violating the law) you think you'd never be able to promote via Facebook, and I'll tell you a way.. ;-)
You can't promote dating offers on Facebook anymore, you say? Take this guy. Let's call him Roger. Roger is promoting his exotic pet website on Facebook. Seems completely clean, nothing shady and FB gladly runs all of Roger's campaigns. Until further down the funnel, on his own backend, he is cleverly implementing
dating offers with angles fine tuned towards all of his exotic pet lovers. Can you not imagine the lonely exotic pet lover who would
love to meet his soulmate... a soulmate that has an equal strong calling towards Iguanas as himself?
Facebook is a beast and any lazy affiliate marketer is going to get eaten up alive.
