Discrepancy in Calls

Hi All,

I've been running a pay per call campaign on PPV.

However, lately I saw a drop in CR in the offer, I reached out to the network about this issue and they talked to the advertiser.

The CR went up on the offer by 10% or so however, my volume on the network's tracking dropped significantly. The amount of converted calls almost halved in comparison to what is normally sent. Everything is the same in terms of the traffic source, landing pages etc.

Is it possible that the advertiser is registering less calls? Or would it be another issue?

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Would implementing call forwarding to the offer (so I have a record of # of calls) help solve the issue?

All insight would be greatly appreciated!!

What vertical is the campaign in?

It's possible that something could have changed on the call center side or the advertiser's method for handling calls. Some new advertisers quickly learn that they don't want to pay out for customer service calls or a certain type of less valuable calls. But, there could be something else going on here too.

One thing you should keep in mind with pay per call is that you're dealing with real people on both sides, users/callers and call center reps. So, if something is going on in the call center, that could affect conversion rates. There are a lot more variables that can change with pay per call, outside of the kewyord, ad text, landing page, etc.

It might help to use some sort of Dynamic Number Insertion or RingPools to get a better idea of where the calls are coming from. Recording and listening to the calls may be allowed, but some advertisers allow it and some don't.

Cheers,
Mike
