Some basic questions after launching first campaigns

Hi STM,

I'm a free traffic affiliate (yt, blogs, seo) that is ready to transition to paid traffic.

Last two weeks I joined STM, signed up for Voluum, got a custom domain, got WRW, did lots of reviewing of those banners and traffic sources. This week I want get a campaign just to not -100% ROI. Even -90 is okay! I just want to make sure I understand the tracking for this week and am doing this all right.

I setup 2 direct linking campaigns, 1 in India for utility app install, 1 in US for a game, both had zero conversions after ~200-300 clicks. I used go2mobi and leadbolt.

Questions:
1. Is this enough clicks to say, I've made a mistake since zero conversions?
2. Are direct linking campaigns worthless?
3. If I'm running a game install, should I target all categories and cut, or start with the gaming category and add others after seeing some conversions?
4. If WRW only shows the google play store as landing pages does this mean that campaign was direct? Or are the real landing pages hidden?

thanks in advance!

Rich

I also would like to know this. I never see landing pages for game install, in-fact I don't see many landing pages for mobile period.

1. No, definitely not. There isn't really any specific number of clicks where you will be assured of a conversion. You could easily have 1000 clicks with no conversions.
2. No, this is something you should test. I see advertisers find success both with DL and using landers. Advertisers who run LPs with certain offers will DL with other offers just because the data shows DL works better.
3. IGNORE the placement categories altogether. They are set by the publishers, and so any publishers looking to maximize their rev from ad space will include their property in as many categories as possible- even if they don't apply to said property.

Don't have any input on 4 as I'm not really familiar with that service, but I wouldn't be surprised if savvy affs could find a way to route the WRW crawler around their actual LP. Interested to see if anyone else has any input here.
