FB Bid Prices

Have the bid prices been bumped up for everybody lately? I started a new account and picked my desired demo and the low end suggested bid is over the $2 mark.

totally depends on the demo and bid prices even then fluctuate a lot. Is your demo over the age of 30? is your demo single and interested in? USA? expect high prices.

I haven't noticed any large increases myself this week but i've been working out side the US

Ah sorry I missed a part out, I previously have targeted this demo and the previous low end bid wasn't anywhere near $2, more towards $1.

It's so for the brand new accounts. When you spend some money and get good ctr it will lower the cpc a lot.

Ah ok cheers, wasn't aware of them having an account history.

I would say bid prices have been going up but you also definitely have a bad quality score with a new facebook account.

It happened to me too.
I uploaded ads to a brand new account today and got a suggested bid of $5 - $12.
After only a $10 spend with a CTR of about 0.5% (5 clicks) the suggested bid for the ad that got clicks dropped to $0.36 - $0.71.

Nice one, what did you start your bid at with those suggested bids?

And by the way, I noticed that in the past few months the suggested bids for the CPC model went DOWN (from $1 min to $0.4 min) while the suggested bids for the CPM model went up (from $0.9 min to $1.5 min).
Maybe it has something to with how old the account is but I noticed this trend in more than one account.

Note: I'm referring to US bid prices.

Rich -I entered a $3 CPC bid, which sounds a little crazy but this is a type of campaign which I have ran in the past and I know how to drive a decent CTR with it so I was counting on the CPC to drop pretty fast.
For experimental campaigns, however, a $3 CPC bid sounds like a big risk for me.

Grenton,

I totally agree about the difference in bid prices for new and older accounts.
I just checked an account I got to spend some money in and the bid prices for the same demographics are lower comparing to the brand new account I have: $0.74-$1.57 vs. $5-$12.
