PopAds mixed results question

Hey guys,

Yesterday I finally launched a campaign with PopAds.
My bid was 0.0387 and spend $200 in just a few hours.

For that $200 I have tested a bunch of those javascript pops that people can see before they close the tab. (or not).

So yesterday I had a CR of 4.84% over 71,923 displays with 413 clicks to the offer. (20 conversions)
A big fat loss , but that's not a real problem because there are a bunch of variables that need to be tested.

Today I lowered my bid to: 0.0287 and traffic come in with the same speed as yesterday.
However, the conversions rate sucks big time today.
65 clicks to the offer from 15.000 displays and just 1 conversion. Which makes the conversion rate 1.56%

So my most important question is: Does the bid affect the quality of the traffic?

Or are there just other things at play here.
For example: I'm getting traffic from other "zones" ...
Or perhaps Mondays perform a bit worse than Sundays?

I hope someone can give some insights here.

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis,

Thats a sky high bid man! You are spending 38$ CPM.. I dont think you can make this one profitable easily at that bid.

Some sites, esp. the high quality ones will have a minimum bid set. So if the min set is 5$ CPM, you cannot get any traffic from it if your bid is 3$ CPM. (I dont think PopAds have this option though, all sites are open to all as far as I know. I could be wrong. I am basing this off the Publisher submit form they have.)

But its irrelevant in your case. No website will have a 28$ CPM.

Weekends almost always perform better than Mondays. People are home, they are idle, they have more time to interact with your ads.

I'm not an expert, not yet reached a green campaign and still losing money...but I've tested that raising the bid close to the "Highest effective bid for traffic" increased significatively the CTR of my lander.

My lander went from 8% to 14% of CTR and also conversions increased.

This is expensive though, so I guess the trick is to play with the bid and the right placements. Unfortunately after $200 of spending and a bunch of conversions, it is not still clear what are these right placements.

If the lower bid also lowers your bid position, then your quality will drop since another advertiser gets to promote their sales funnel to the user before you.

Aah crap, I meant: 0.00387 which makes it a CPM of $3.87
I've lowered it to: 0.00287 and that gave me the following summary:

Average bid for traffic with your options is 0.006313
Highest effective bid for traffic with your options is 0.077000
Max bid offered for your options is 0.131000
Your position in bidding queue is 76
We estimate you'll receive 37400 impression(s) per day

So 76 other people are bidding higher and are getting first impressions.
Does this mean my pops are shown to people who already have seen a BUNCH of these pops and might just click them away more easily then they normally do?

Yes. Try to be somewhere in the top 10 IMO. Or use Prime Spot bidding. Both will be more expensive for the Geo. And that should be your learning, in your next campaign pick a cheaper Geo.

I think, if I were you I would probably test more angles at this point at the same bid. 37400 impressions is quite decent for any test.
