Direct Linking question...

Hey guys, I was thinking if you are going to DL a offer to test with (utility app), would it be better to do it without a tracker in-between? The reason I say that is because if I have a tracker (Voluum) set up, when the user clicks on the banner, browser would open up and this could kill some conversion? Without a tracker, there would be no browser and the user would be redirected to google or apple store. Not sure if this makes a difference or I'm overthinking.

what's the traffic source. Correct me if i'm wrong. but i believe you need some sort of tracker for the postbacks?

also what happens when you want to split test landers?

honestly, it shouldn't make much of a difference with or without Voluum for your conversions.

maybe if you're trying to eek out another 10% roi on a performing campaign. But if you're just starting then what your worried about is the basic viability of the camp. Not a few extra percentage points.

Unless you selling your own App, even with direct linking you will have to use the tracking URL from your affiliate network. That would open up a browser as far as I have tested.

Use Voluum. You will need the data anyway, without which you are simply feeding the pocket of your traffic source.

The only time you should be direct linking without a tracker is when you have a campaign keyed in.

i.e. When you don't need the data to know what already works.

Otherwise, you're counting on the campaign being profitable from Day 1.

(And it rarely ever happens like that.)
