choosing strategy

After reading a lot on STM and out, i was wondering..

WHAT SHOULD I DO? SHOULD I BUILD A LANDING PAGE AND TRY TO MATCH THE WINNING OFFER?
OR TRY TO PICK AN OFFER AND TRY TO BUILD A WINNING LANDING PAGE?

Im trying mobile display, specialy banners, for some time now and im like..hmm...is this ever gonna work? should i change strategy? on some threads i read that I should focus focus focus, keep doing the same thing until it works and on some other threads im reading about changing all the time inside the same frame..

I started working with landing pages not far back, and no significant results yet.

Thanks guys!

SHOULD I BUILD A LANDING PAGE AND TRY TO MATCH THE WINNING OFFER?
Could you clarify this? Not sure what exactly you mean - matching generally hot offers with your landing page? Or an offer you are running that's the winner? In any case it does not make much sense.

The way I do this is

1. Pick one or two proven traffic sources.

1. Get all hot offers for your vertical (they are proven to convert, you want to eliminate the unknown variables ; once you're doing better also go for completely new offers)

2. Create several angles and landing pages and split-test all of them (landing pages and angles is a mix of ripped ones, and completely own creations)

I agree with kepe95,

I dont see much sense in creating a LP first and than trying to match it with an offer. Should be the other way around - find an offer -> create a LP.

You can always modify and create new landing pages.

There are only so many offers and you have less control over them - they are a less flexible element.

So, make decisions from that end first.

Hey guys, thanks a lot!

I can understand why it looks wierd to build a landing page and look for the winning offer. I was saying this due to my understanding of stackman's post:
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...Angle-Revealed

From what i understand over there is that he took the top offers of the vertical he was running - this case was sweepstakes, and he just mixed and mached 100's of landings with 100's of offers, assuming i understood it right. so i tried to apply this insight on my area...
So lets say im doing app installs, so from what i understand it's a bit different because you need a specific landing page for a specific offer (- by specific im talking about the general copy and the app image) that maches the offer and not just general "shoot zombi ed" type of landing pages.

So i think i got it better now. So what i need to do is to pick a proven traffic source - i picked Airpush for starter - hope it's a decent one.
I recieve the top offers list every week for my vertical.
So now i just need to look for a decent offer - one that have been installed at least ones or twice and have good reviews
and after investigating - competitors, the geo, culture etc - make banners and landing pages and test them all on that offer.

Did i get it right?

P.s
Sorry for not being able to clearify myself 100% - English is not my native

Thanks again for your help guys!

Regarding spying on competitor, my method was this:

HMA+opera
HMA+ my personal mobile phone
downloading top apps on app store from few categories and watch the banners.

I feel it is not enuogh..How can i optimize my use with HMA?

And im running ads with airpush. i tried looking for airpush ads with no luck yet...Any recommendations finding airpush ads?

Thanks a lot for everything!

Kepe95 im reading your follow along all from the start. It is so inspiring man!

If I had a choice between

1. Great Offer + Bad Landing Page

or

2. Bad Offer + Great Landing Page

I would choose 1 any day.

I agree.

Some offers are so good that even a "meh" LP cant ruin too much. Its a matter of finding a good offer and then optimizing the LP.

great point here, i have been testing many variables, angles LP, but what really made a big difference is the offer, so now we are testing alot of them. everything else is also important, but its better to work on a single thing at a time, so you get a better idea of what is happening. read josh waitzkin on making smaller circles
