Get Approved For Your First Network (39)

Get Approved For Your First Network

So... You're ready to roll.

You've read through the Onboarding Zone, signed up to a traffic source, figured out the difference between CPCs, CPMs and EPCs, and told your mum you don't have time to clean your room because you're about to be a millionaire.

You're ready to be an affiliate and live the life that you want to live.

Buuuuuut. There's one small teeny tiny issue. You're a newbie. Networks are refusing to take you on until you have some experience. But you can't get any experience because networks won't accept you. Catch 22.

This has been a regular theme lately - an influx of people starting out causing many networks to focus their time on their more experienced affiliates (the ones who make them their money).

Networks don't hate you because you're new. They understand. But understand this - networks make their money from those people who make the most money with them. Super affiliates make their business boom, not the new kid on the block making them $0.61 each week.

The aim of your application is to show them that you mean business.

You should have already read Zeno's guide to joining a netwok during your onboarding phase: if not, read it here.

This thread is designed to consolidate a few tips for those of you still struggling to join networks and to provide a short list of newbie-friendly networks to try!

Tip #1: Get a Website

Many network application forms have a "Website" field. Use it.

A website is simple to set up and makes you look like you're serious; buy a domain with your business name (if you don't have a a limited liability company - you should get one. Otherwise you will have to operate as a sole proprietor).

A simple website is all you need - thanks to Zeno, even this is easier as he gave us a slick simple lander template that we can use: Quick Slick Business Lander

Tip #2: Have a Gameplan

You need to know what you're talking about, and what you want.

This means you'll have to have done some research and have made some business decisions - are you going to focus on Facebook? Adult dating? App installs?

Fill out the fields accordingly. If you seriously don't know what they're talking about, it might be a sign that you need to do some more research!

It's also worth noting here that when you've been accepted, your new affiliate manager is not your PA nor your private coach. They are there to provide you with offers when you want them and to try get you promoting offers that they need promoting. Don't turn up to the network expecting them to teach you what you need to know. Turn up prepared.

Tip #3: Follow Up

Nothing says that you're serious and ready to go like a follow up call.

In saying that, bear in mind that networks receive hundreds of applications and you must be a bit patient. Don't contact them straight away asking them to let you in.

Ideally, wait a couple of days before contacting them (pick up the phone and give them a call, contact them here on the forums, or contact them on skype). Keep it professional and DON'T BEG.

Here's a nice little network Skype directory courtesy of your friends at STM: Network Skype Directory

Tip #4: Tell Them You're On STM

Being a member of the world's best affiliate marketing forum speaks volume. You're not just another Joe Blogs with no idea. You're committed and have the best possible learning resource at your fingertips.

Don't be too modest to mention it!

UPDATED: Newbie-Friendly Networks List

This list is not in any order nor is it by any means comprehensive. But these are a few newbie-friendly (or so I've been told!) networks to take a shot applying to.

Please share your experience in joining networks with me so I can keep this list up to date.

If you're from a network and consider yourself newbie friendly - hit me up and I'll add your network to the list!

Tapgerine is totally friendly with newbies. Self experience

Affiliaxe is good for newbies & they have filters on their offers like the top conversion ratings, EPC's, & type/country to help find the statistically proven offers.

Are the affiliate programs in the "Newbie-Friendly Networks List" phone call free? Meaning they don't require a phone call to get accepted into the network. I know this is an old thread and probably no one is going to respond, but I'm posting just in case. Thanks.

These are very good tips from Ruby Tunes!

First of all you should have your traffic sources clear - without traffic you won't get approved anywhere.
Then what I would suggest is to reach out to one (or a few) account managers of the networks you wanna get into on Linkedin - make sure your profile is up to date and write them a PM.
Try to get their skype and on skype explain them 1) what offers you'll run & in what countries 2) what volumes you expect to generate 3) if they can help you push trough your application & approval - believe me, they'll do anything to get you on board as they get Bonus for that!

We are very newbie friendly as well - just hit me up on skype or sign up to our network and mention STM. You'll get approved and ready to go within 24H.

If you're not already on our network, here's the link to get your started! http://myadsimilis.com/affiliate_signup.aspx

I have been accepted 4 out of 5! Some rejected me first but i think i changed there minds after i showed them how commited i am. The one i have been rejected now i am also still convincing to accept me. So my tip is to not stalk them but also after been rejected just show them one more time that you are serious and do that with a skype call.

Offcourse i already have a company website, email adres with logo, changed my linkedin profile and some friends in the business that can help me to make the first steps and i have always told them i am a newbie and dont have experienced yet.

I'd add don't exaggerate your experience in verticals or traffic. We get applications with people saying they have year of experience with every single traffic type out there i.e. they list ppv, ppc, social, email, sms and whatever else they can think we want to hear (don't see this much from STM members but good to remember anyway). Just be honest - makes it easier for all involved.

Appflood has been really slow in replying to my email/Skype. No idea what's going on.

No rejection email, nothing.

Are they facing any problem internally?

Ruby, If you wouldn't mind also including F5 in your list? We are very newbie friendly and our entry requirements are listed all over the guides and newbie sections of STM like the Appetizer etc.

Much Appreciated. Anyone with any questions about the F5 application process please don't hesitate to hit me up!

Great guide, excellent share. I am in the middle of the process of finding newbie-friendly affiliate networks to get approved in first, and am actually creating that website.
Just a question, do most people just put "(word) marketing" or "(word) media" as their website name? Or maybe even use their last name or something? I'm having trouble trying to find ideas regarding the creation of the website's name, and was wondering if I'm overthinking it. I'm brainstorming ideas to try and make a relevant but creative/catchy name, and am thinking about making it have something to do with the word "click" or "convert."

Well it depends on what you want. I personally have "(word) marketing". But it's up to you. To my experience the networks don't really pay much attention to it, so don't overthink it. Hope this helps!

Hi, quick question are you interested in mobile, and if so, what vertical are you working on? Thanks!

02-03-2016 02:44 PM #16 cbrughmans (Member)

We are very newbie friendly. As long as you drive clean traffic (and don't do fraud), we'll take anyone on board. Even 10$ per day pubs are welcome - of course we hope you will upscale at some point but we understand there is a learning curve and growth phase you need to go through.

02-15-2016 01:34 AM #17 dbf5844 (Member)

The main vertical I was interested in getting started with was gaming, because I am a gamer myself and I can speak the language of gamers. I was planning to start on Facebook as my first major traffic source. But I was also interested in mobile because that's clearly the future of marketing!

02-24-2016 08:00 AM #18 nomeus (Member)

Got my application denied from Adsmilis, but the weird thing is that after I asked AM why my application was denied, he just deleted me from his Skype contacts. I asked for a reason, because I have a relevant experience in Internet marketing. So adsmilis is not newbie with experience friendly.

I take this post as an opportunity to thanx the very first network that let me in : Adsimilis.
it may help others reading this thread that want to join their first network.

It was 2011-10, I dont even remember what lead me to AM... But, I managed to have a chat with Sean on skype and he asked me many questions, I was under pressure, this whole new world of opportunities, I did my research but I was of course a noob in every way, but this guy was so gentle, like you know, he's been there, nothing to prove, no need to play the big guy, last questions was :
- How did you hear about us ?
- me: a blog post.... hum....
- ... 5 min .. no signal
- me: and I'm really really motivated, if you let me in , I'll ...
- ho, sorry, you're in, was just creating your account.
- check your email for your credentials

then, it started......

All I want to say, you are totally new to this business, guess what, we were all.
Just be honest and direct about what's your level and your motivation.
it will help.

03-12-2016 01:37 AM #20 money_matters (AMC Alumnus)

Just got my application rejected by Peerfly as a newbie even though I indicated traffic source, vertical, budget, Voluum for tracking, VPS setup, and even mentioned I'm a member of STM. I was advised to try to reapply after I've made $500 with another CPA network or wait 6 months. er... yea.... So, I've taken the time and money to actually setup and fund my Go2Mobi account and Voluum Pro account subscription as well, but still no green light with Peerfly. No big deal....Plenty of newbie friendly ANs out there. I'm staying positive. Just sharing my experience to keep the merit of this list in good shape.. hope this helps.

One question, I have seen in THIS guide that networks use Platform such as "cake marketing" but I can't understand if in order to see network's offers is mandatory to have such platforms. Can someone clarify?

Hi, just wanted to know if Mundo Media is still good and paying out? Some people are saying they don't pay and they're the biggest scam network.

01-24-2017 09:23 PM #30 ash1ey (Member)

I've been applying for a few of the "newbie" friendly ones and Grabads are telling me that I need to earn $100/per day before they will consider me. You might want to remove them from that last to avoid any confusion for other noobs.

Hi all, we are Wewe Media Network and I would like to add a little helpful tip for newbie signing up.

I hope it will be useful as this tips comes from the point of view of us, a network.

There are few things networks generally would consider to approve affiliates.

- Whether an affiliate know what he is doing or at least know what he is going to do (as a beginner)

- Whether an affiliate has the proper knowledge on running the offers that are in our network. We came across some affiliates that came from a desktop CPA network and they are completely clueless on mobile CPA network. To prevent our offers being run on the wrong kind of traffic and causing damage to our advertisers we choose not to approve.

- Whether an affiliate will be running genuine traffic to our offers or are they....scammers.

To approach a network, my recommendation will be.

- Run a few campaigns if you are registered on any network. A proof of revenue shows that at least you understand Affiliate Marketing.

- Be very detailed on what you want to promote, which traffic source you want to promote, what's the tools that you are using, why you want to promote that offers and why that traffic sources. That shows that you have the proper knowledge/experiences.

- If you are referred by or coming from any forums, state it down.

- Affiliate website isn't necessary for all network, but it's a plus point if you have one. It's a background check for us, network.

- If there's a Skype call for an interview, take the call. (we want to know you are a person)

- Be positive. (It always helps! )

Hope this little bit of info could help you guys!

Thank you for great post. I think it should be updated with new network since this post is included in 6WAMC guide. My recommendation for newbies is Mobidea. They don't ask you for any exp. To be clear, my goal is not to promote them, just want to help every new guy.
