How many budget for newbie?

Hallo everybody!,
My name is Farhan, I'm 19 and from Bandung, Indonesia. I really want to be a professional Affiliate Marketer as young as possible. but, yesterday i was read this quote from caurmen in this article : http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...obile+campaign

A testing budget. We'd recommend at least $1,000 to start testing with. Affiliate Marketing (AM) requires money to buy traffic and test campaigns. You must be able to afford to lose at least this much,

If you can't afford that yet: Unfortunately, you'll need a decent budget to begin your AM career. If that's not possible right now, I'd recommend investigating other ways to make money for now and coming back to affiliate marketing at a later date.
The problem is I don't have much money now, What should I do? should I exit from Affiliate Marketing world and make money in other ways? I really ned advice from all of you guys.

I'd recommend getting at least $1000,- before starting.

I would say for now: keep the STM membership at least for a month and read as much as you can and start a few campaigns in cheap geo's (countries) so you can learn the ropes of setting up and launching new campaigns.

Besides that work on getting some budget: jobs on fiverr, part time jobs in your country. You'll feel a lot better if your testing budget isn't all the money you own.

Good luck!

Hi farenaldi.

I really recommend you to save more money (nowadays is it good to have at least $3-5k).

You must understand that in the beginning you might LOSE a high % of it. (yes you might be lucky and hit a profitable campaign, but it not happens many time, especially if you have zero experience in AM)

What I would recommend to you is to build a skillset that you can leverage to make money.

For me it was coding websites from PSD to WordPress and making AdSense sites and getting them ranked by SEO. That enabled me to have budget to start with AM.

Maybe for you is it graphic design, writing or other kind of freelancing job. Maybe even an offline job, but if you want to pursue affiliate roads doing something on computer online could be the way to go.

There are also many AM's from Indonesia around, connect and network with them, they may give you a hand, maybe you could even work for them.

You are still quite young, so no worries, find a way to get some solid budget and rock it in AM when you are ready.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah some others ideas to make a bunch of money to start (I've used some of these services and I think they are pretty nice to handle) :

- Grab a subscription with one of the spy/reverse-engineering tool (can be CPA tool like WhatRunsWhere, BoxOfAds, etc, or SimilarWeb, or in the SEO world SemRush) and offer reports on Fiverr (e.g. 5 SemRush reports for $5, 3 SimilarWeb reports for $5, etc).

Obviously check that the subscription service allows this kind of stuff.

cheers,
