I'm running a simple direct-linked zip submit offer. I've had over 300 clicks via media buys on sitescout and not a single person has submitted their zip. I thought it might be a problem with their tracking, so I submitted a zip myself and it shows a conversion for that.
Possibly I'm getting my clicks from bot traffic, but I'm getting clicks across several networks and domains, which makes that seem less likely.
Also, I thought that perhaps my ads were setting expectations that fell short once the user got to the offer page. So I've included the pre-made banner that came with the campaign, but still no zip submits.
Is it normal to get so many clicks but no zip submits?
hey,
dont worry 300 clicks is nothing, you should always wait for significant data spend at least 3x of your CPA on a source before you cut it off.
Now maybe your angle is totally missleading or page speed is slow or the traffic is crap because of targeting and maybe you are getting lots of bot traffic but after 300 clicks thats really not that much.
I have run many pin submit and zip campaigns and many of them never had a single conversion even after 1000 visits
Keep on testing
Is that 3x my CPA per source or 3x my CPA per angle + source combination? So if I'm testing 10 different angles across 100 different websites, and my payout is $4.00, I should expect to spend $12,000 testing (10*100*4*3)? Or $1200 testing (100*4*3)?
well 12000 usd in testing is a bit much, If you have it perfect.
But I normally go simple, you will quickly see the high CTR ads and if you have no conversion cut the rest. then look at the sites are the spending like $12 and not converting cut them. if you have an even distribution of the ad impressions. If you still have no conversions it can also be the offer.
I think there are some more people here that can give you a more scientific approach. I run the first 200-500 dollars mostly on a gut feeling what could work (this really does not help does it
) and sometimes I miss and sometimes I hit. Once I hit I can analyze the data an work on my campaign but without any conversions I stop because I cant optimize anything.
Yeah, I'm trying to get an idea of when to cut an offer. Are there any good threads specifically addressing how much to spend before cutting offers?
300 clicks as "lazylobster" said isn't that much amount but this is a great identification that the campaign isn't going well and probably will need a big optimization in order to see positive ROI.
if you can share info about your spend so far and the banners + LP you are using maybe member here will be able to pin point if there is any issue that might cause users not to convert.
try to run a different zip submit offer with the same traffic and see if you get any conversion, you might be targeting a complete wrong audience.
For anyone else reading along on this thread and wondering if there was an answer, Vortex answered the "when to cut offers" question over here: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-to-cut-offers .
In this specific case, I'd also add that Sitescout can be quite bot-heavy. Are most of those clicks from a few placements, or widely and evenly spread?
I appreciate the help!

I ran a new campaign today using sitescout's data targeting feature to target honda owners and ran it across the whole platform. Spent $34 on 6,751 impressions and received only 1 click. The CTR is so drastically different than it was with my other campaigns which didn't use sitescout's data targeting feature. Since this feature probably uses a cookie of some sort, it probably means its free of bot traffic, right? That could explain the drop in CTR. I'm not sure where to go from here. I appreciate any advice!
