1m clicks/day, Voluum + Rackspace CDN enough? (15)

1m clicks/day, Voluum + Rackspace CDN enough?

So now I am running 1m clicks/day, hosting all my LPs on Rackspace CDN, and having a dedicated server on BeyondHosting just for the tracking domain.

Is it enough?

Is the dedicated server on BH not even necessary? If it's not necessary, that means CNAME-ing the Voluum tracking url to my tracking domain in Goddaddy would be enough?

that is way plenty man..........Voluum is handling all the DB stuff and all you need is a dedicated midlevel even a VPS with litespeed or ngninx instead of apache and you're fine. You have a total extra server you don't need man

I run 2 mil plus with one dedicated and Voluum. That's it.

Hey Tommy, the dedicated server on BH isn't needed - just update the settings of your domain at your registrar. Good choice on Rackspace CDN for your LPs btw.

Best,
Robert

So in this case, not even a VPS is needed?

Oeff, what are you paying to Voluum to do this?
It's $99 per month for 1 million events.

Have you setup a deal with them ?

If you do around 2 / 3 million events go for the $99 / month plan - and Voluum will automatically bill you for the extra events over the 1 million mark. It's affordable, you can check the exact rates on their site, they also got a price calculator

If you're hosting static LPs on RackSpace then no, you don't need any hosting other than that

Well, if you do 1 million visitors per day, that would be even more events (visitors/clicks/conversions).
They have a package for 30.000.000 events for $999 per month

So how affordable is this really?

Oh yeah did not saw that you were asking for 1 million + / day.
In this case rob_gryn will be best at answering your question

We have the 30M event Super Affiliate package, and our custom plans start at 100M events + / month. If you go over the 30M events in a given month, then you pay the $0.03/1,000 overage fees. If you're doing 3M+ events/day we can sort out a custom plan.

If you're doing 30M events / month then I presume you're spending 5 to 6 figures on traffic a month. If you're running pops, you might think this is a hefty cost but utilizing our 9 data centers (some 150 servers total) for traffic routing really does wonders for click loss as opposed to a single location with alternative solutions.

It's really up to you and how you use your data to determine 'how affordable' it is for your needs. I sometimes recommend self-hosted alternatives to people (running pops) who claim our pricing is too high as we didn't build Voluum as a simple redirect platform, but as a granular and powerful reporting platform that can process reports that self-hosted often cannot.

A lot of users also cherish not having to worry about their own servers - in almost 2 years we've had 10 minutes of down time on our traffic servers (due to a silly human error which will not occur again). For some, that peace of mind alone is worth the cost.

That clears everything Rob!

I saw that you guys are working on monitoring the kind of landing pages allowed on Voluum? like those "you may be infected with a virus" kind of pages won't be allowed?

Don't tell me this is true

This is not the case - we're merely implementing an automated scanner for hardcore malware / viruses - the recent flagging was a result of a few users on the free Noobie that were pushing extremely malicious files.

This has nothing to do with verticals, LPs etc.

Is Voluum supporting 3rd part postbacks for different campaigns ?

Do you mean to traffic sources? If so, then yes. Not sure if they let you add multiple ones per campaign.
