Question Few Question that Stuck me in starting a campaign, please help

Hi Guys,

ready to starting a campaign but still have some question stuck in my mind. If you guys know this please answer. hehe.

1. do we need to buy a domain for each landing pages ?
2. about payout, how we gonna receive them ? i mean, let's say i make profit in my campaign and have payout. where i can redeem it (get the money) ? (i'm in indonesia)
3. been reading about self-hosting and VPS on this forum, is it for the landing page or tracking software
- if it used for tracking software, i am using Voluum as my tracking software, should I still self hosting or rent a VPS ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Surya.

1)You could if you like, but you don't HAVE to. You could get a very generic domain name like "123456.com" or "greatoffers4u.com" and use it for everything. Or, you could get a separate domain name for each vertical, such as "xxxbabes4u.com" for adult dating, "win-prizes-now.com" for sweeps, "best-phone-apps.com" for mobile apps, etc. etc. Having a domain name that's related to your offer will make it look more legitimate and relevant to your visitors.

2)That would be different for each affiliate network. The most common methods of payment are paypal, checks, direct bank deposits/transfers/wires. The fees associated with each method for each network will be different as well. You'll have to contact the individual networks to find out.

3)VPS's can be used for both landing pages and tracking software, but you can get away without having a VPS if you choose not to use one. For landing pages you could store them on amazon S3 and use a service like NSOne to set up your nameserver and A/C records. For tracking software you don't have to host your own if you use services like Voluum. It depends on your choice really. For the pros and cons of various options, please do a search on this forum - there are many threads that talk about different hosting and tracker options.

Hope I've answered your questions!

Hi Amy,

thanks for answering,
1. what do u mean by generic domain ? is it like i should buy one domain and then changing on the sub domain for every lander?
2. you explained it pretty clear, so I should only contact the affiliate networks and ask them directly about the payment right ?
3. very clear.

thanksss amy

1) I assume that by "generic", Amy means just a random domain name that doesnt really relate to anything specific.
2) Each network has its own payment options. You need to check for yourself what the networks you are signed to have so yes, ask them directly.

Yep - a generic domain would be one domain that works for everything, e.g. "mobileoffers.com". On this domain you'd have all your different landing pages for whatever niche, e..g mobileoffers.com/landingpages/adultdating-page1 and mobileoffers.com/landingpages/appdownload-page1 or whatever you want.

If you're interested I did a little test on the difference between having different domain names: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...in-Name-Matter

Looks like you created this thread twice, so I deleted the other one - but here was an answer that Mr Green gave you too...

1. To start with you only need one domain.

2. The affiliate network of the campaign that you promote will pay your Indonesia bank account.

3. I would advise you use hosted tracking at this point (Voluum). Then get hosting for your landing pages.

If I may put my 3p in here - I have used generic domain ages ago for mobile ringtones and stuff, but I always used subdomain for better description of the topic and for better visitor experience. It was long time ago before browsers were giving you title of the page in address bar, when someone have seen http://techno.(my short namedcdomain here).com he knew he is in right place to get techno themed ringtone.
If I were you I would try to find 3 (hard) 4 characters .com domain and then use subdomains...
I can be wrong, maybe that is not important anymore, but since it doesn't cost a penny more, it is worth to try and see how it goes.

Thanks affiliaxeoran for explaining what I meant further!

I second what you guys said about adding specific subdomains to generic domains being a good approach! When I was doing adwords many years back, I used a single domain to promote everything from male enhancement guides to weightloss ebooks to software, using the exact method.

Hope we've helped you to get "unstuck" Surya! If you have further questions do let us know!

That's what STM is all about

You should start a follow-along to get feedback on your campaign.

Feel free to post any more questions along the way
