For those tracking Adwords campaigns through Voluum

Hey all,

For those running a lot of Google Adwords campaigns I'm sure you're aware of the Adwords policy that the domain of the destination URL needs to match the domain of the visible URL.

Now I'm tracking the performance of my Adwords campaigns through Voluum but need to set up a custom domain for each site I'm running in Adwords to comply with Adwords policy. Unfortunately Voluum offers a limited number of custom domains, so I've posted a suggestion at Voluum to offer additional custom domains on a pay-as-you-go basis.

If you've run into the same limitation please vote on this idea so we might see this implemented in the future. Or, if you've found a workaround please let me know!

Hmm i just realized I could set up a 302 redirect on the domain I'm using that redirects to my Voluum campaign URL that in turn redirects to the site again (savvy?)

Let me give this a try, I'll keep you updated on how that goes

To reply to myself, redirecting through your own domain actually works like a charm. Simple little fix, saves you from getting additional domains.

Just be sure your sever can handle the traffic load and you should be fine

That actually helped me, thanks!

As far as I know, your Display URL and Destination URL can be completely different domains without any issues as long as the domain of the Destination URL eventually, through redirects, matches the domain in your Display URL. So, use whatever tracking domain you want, just land them on the same domain after it runs through Voluum.

This changes if you're already using the Final URL setup, but really it only makes it more clear that differing tracking domains are allowed.

@Gucci Mayne Good point, hadn't thought about that actually. Still it'll be wise to use different (clean) custom domains for Adwords tracking that have not been 'polluted' by less reliable traffic sources.

Also I just read that the regular Voluum tracking domain cannot be used in Adwords anymore: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...le-bans-Voluum
