reducing click loss

i am on this pop network and there are some geos where i have click loss of 30-40%. my server is amazon aws in singapore, and im using a cloudflare cdn. any idea how i can reduce click loss? im not facing it with all geos, just some of them are getting 30-40% click loss. this is tracked through Voluum so i dont think it has anything to do with my server? because its direct to Voluum?

That's some major click loss.

First thing I'd test is how much traffic you receive when cutting out Voluum and running the campaign direct (without tracking).

If there's still a huge discrepancy, then it would suggest any click loss is coming from the ad platform side (reporting dud clicks). You can send over your reports and ask them to investigate.

If running direct reduces the click loss, then you can at least narrow down to your own funnel.

^ Definitely do as Finch suggested - find an easy way to cut out tracking and point direct to your lander. Be careful using analytics like google as the stats are often proportional and therefore can be off by a factor. Most accurate form of logging is to make sure your webserver has access logs enabled and then use the logs to tally up the total visits. A bit of a hassle though.

If your running on Cloudfront/S3 with static pages - enable the logging bucket feature there.

Alternatively use google URL shortner to do the redirect for you - it will give you decent click stats. You can also use bitly but this sometimes has issues with URLs getting flagged.

Last option is to insert a simple tracking image on your page and use a image hosting service that allows direct linking and gives you some stats.

One thing to keep in mind with pop/ppv is that users tend to close the browser window before your tracking URL has time to load. So the ad network will register it as a click but that click wont make it to your lander / tracker.

all this above by noip and finch..

Also try switching off cloudflare in admin panel and test.

As much as CF is great, and cheap, I had to remove it from a website I own as it loaded around 50% slower with it active, no matter how I configured Cloudflare. Yet it works fine on another, with similar WP set up.. odd, but shit happens ha.

30% is generally too much from my experience too.

In many of my tests a good dedicated server has outperformed a CDN for a lot of goes.

So test removing the CDN and see if anything changes.

thanks for all the info, i think the issue here is not the server, but from the ad network to the tracker. this ad network is trusted and one of the biggest, most of their geos are fine, just a few have this big click loss. im thinking maybe i can place my server closer to where he is serving his ads, or place it closer to where my geo is. at least i have a better chance to catch their attention before they get the lag.

im going to test removing Voluum, and direct the traffic to my tracker in the geo of my choice and see if anything changes. as such im setting up a self hosted tracker Thrive. i dont know if this is a good choice but im testing it anyway
