Finally convinced myself to learn more about mobile... Still a few questions though!

Hey,

After being into the adult niche for 2.5 years and finding it harder and harder to get to my goals I FINALLY booked some time to study mobile marketing.

So I have read a LOT today and watched a few videos but I still have a few (probably noob) questions...

1. When where talking about "app installs" ... Are these the WAP offers that I find in networks?
2. How exactly does an app install work? I mean, normally you can only install apps through the Google Play store or App Store or whatever.
Hoes does this technically work?
3. How important is quality? How are the app developers make money with the installs I give them?
4. There are a ton of CPA networks and Traffic sources. I always read, just pick one. But which one is great to start with as a complete newbie in mobile and why?
5. What is an average CTR for a mobile banner and an app advertisement?

Plan of attack:

So after my study today I thought of the following concept

A: Ask some AMs to give me a document with the best converting mobile apps (based on conversion rate and revenue) per GEO.
B: Launch a direct-link campaign to see what country works with what offer and THEN create landingpages for those.
C: I've been told to focus on mobile sites and not on traffic generated from apps.
D: I've been told to disable WiFi from the start (at least for the beginning).

Since most tutorials are a few years old I wonder how competitive mobile already is.
I'd like to invest my time wisely and I'm not happy with $100 profit per day.
My goals are WAY higher then that.

If someone could give me some answers and comments to get me going than that would be awesome!

Thanks guys,
Dennis

1. When where talking about "app installs" ... Are these the WAP offers that I find in networks?
Not all offers marked WAP are app installs (CPI). Often the WAP tag is used to make it clear an offer is mobile compatible.

2. How exactly does an app install work? I mean, normally you can only install apps through the Google Play store or App Store or whatever.

There are app installs through the stores and there are off-store app installs. The off-store app installs quite often come as Direct Downloads. Let's say you have a landing page with a CTA button on it, user clicks it, file gets downloaded to their device. However, to install this file, the user has to enable installing of apps from outside Google Play.

It's not much but at least it's something.. i had some more but i got really confused at C and D.

1 - App installs are mobile application installs like "Du battery saver" , "Apus Launcher" etc etc. Not all WAP offers are app installs. WAP offers can be sweepstakes etc too.

2- App installs generally get counted when the user installs the app and opens it for the first time. Generally it's a download from the App Store or Play Store but sometimes can be also direct APK installs.

3- Quality is VERY important, same degree as in adult dating leads for example. What matters is the money app developers make on the backend monetising users you send.

4- I would go with Go2Mobi or Decisive.

5- That varies a LOT. Depends on what too many factors to give a fixed answer.

Thanks guys for your answers.

1.1) So basically I need to ask my AM what really are APP installs intead of WAP offers.

2.1) But APK packages can only be installed when your phone is jailbreaked right?

6) I've taken a look within the Decisive Planner and noticed that almost ALL apptraffic for a GEO I want to target goes to a game called Trivia Crack Android. Is there a way I can more information about this traffic? Games get played by Kids a lot. And I don't want to waste my advertising money on some 8 year old that doesn't even know what an AD is. On the other side, this Trivia Crack game is in this case more towards older people. Anyway, when people are playing, it seems hard to me to interrupt them with antivirus offers or battery stuff. Can anybody give me their perspective on this?

--And if someone got some time I would really appreciated some comments on my ABCD plan of attack.

Thanks!
~Dennis

For iOS yes, for Android nope, you just need to click ok before the install.
