Content Locking 101 - What Is It All About [Tutorial]
Hello Stackers,
I decided to put this tutorial together as some of you seem a little clueless about the subject. I hope this helps some of you out.
The Basics
Content locking is a monetizing solution that can be used on pretty much all types of web content, you can achieve better results with this than PPC believe it or not. Content locking can be integrated into pretty much all monetization styles, the most popular method is to have a widget popup when the website visitor hits the locked content, example:
notice how the graphic hides the content (text) from being accessed.
The content locker will abruptly take control of the page, asking the visitor to complete an offer. Content locking networks have sponsors just the same as MaxBounty does be it an email submit, survey, or perhaps a trial or download. The person locking his/her content with the locker gets paid each time one visitor completes the process, when they do this the content is unlocked for the duration chosen by the content locking affiliate. When locking you can choose to have your locker unlocked for a minute/day/week it's up to you, when unlocked the visitor will gain access to the intended link/share offered by the affiliate.
Optimizing Offers
Might as well link you to the guide I wrote earlier: Why Optimizing Your Offers With Content Locking Networks Is Key [Tutorial]
Monetization Tools
With content locking you can lock the content using: link lockers/Content Locker (widgets like the above example)/file lockers/video lockers/offer walls. Below is a bit about the offer wall process:
Offer walls allow you to display the correct geotargeted offers to your users. This tools is generally used with point reward systems.
The Offer Wall Tool allows you to easily leverage display of multiple offers and be able to reward your users for each offer completed.
Upon completion, your user will recieve credit / points for their action. Offer walls are a fantastic resource for publishers and makes for an excellent virtual currency platform resource.
If you like money and you have a site with users who get credited for actions, you'll love our offerwall platform.
Right And Wrong

How To Lock Content
To lock videos/links/files it's super simple just upload it and follow the steps, very basic stuff trust me.
Using a widget however becomes some what harder. I'll give you an example of the process however:
1.First click on the (create locker) and then click the "Get Code" when finished setting it up, you should upload your own custom
content locker widget skin if possible.
2. Grab the content locker code and simply copy and paste it between <head> </head> on your website.
Here is basic example:
<script type="text/javascript" src="yoursitescript_include.php?id=56743"></script>
3. Finally, what you need to do is add the (on click gateway) on your website, what this will do is ensure your on click code element is correctly in place. For example if you want to add it into an image you are locking on your website just find the raw code and it like this:
(onclick="call_locker();") so ends up like this -
<img src= "imageyouwant-to-lock.png"onclick="call_locker();"
My Preferred Networks
CPAGrip - I love this network for it's offers, support and more. Just a good network that has grown and FAST.
AdworkMedia - Great owners that care, good support too. Really decent offers as well actually. Pretty strict on compliance so it depends on your angle.
Traffic Sources
YouTube - It's become pretty saturated over time, the reason for this is that YouTube have pretty good systems in place. If your video gets flagged up the description will be crawled and if any obvious spam type links/text is detected the video will be taken down automatically. However, if you're clever and don't add links in the description, or, avoid using obvious terms such as: free, hack and so on then your video when flagged would need to be reviewed by a YouTube human representative. This is good because your video stays up for longer do depending on your (angle) and choice of niche this is a good thing.
Tip - So if you have no link in the description how do you get traffic, answer, you watermark the video with you URL.
Facebook - Heavy on the spam detections but it's do-able yes.
SEO (search engines) - This is the best method for content locking, if you can rank up good niches and content lock them, man, you will be banking BIG money in no time.
Others - Well, it's all about thinking outside the box, right.
======================================
Final note - I think that about covers the basics and more, I'll likely update this thread over time too.
Hope it helps!

I keep reading in your guides.. that for YT vids, not to link in description to avoid detection. So how do you send traffic to something / somewhere else?

Hey EpicTrends.
Nice too see that someone posts some stuff about content locking.
I would like to know if you would recommend to use own software like CLP or to use the networks own lockers.
If you would prefer own software, would it rather be Contentlock Pro or Mighty Content Locker or another one?
I own a Contentlock Pro license for several years but never really used it but I better like the idea to use my own locker instead of using the lockers from the nertworks.
Anyway, what CPA networks would you recommend for using an own locker?
Thanks in advance

Personally, I never touched anything outside of the networks software.

Can you both please explain why you would only use the networks software?
I would assume that own software is better because you can the splittest offers from different networks and have more freedom with what you do anyway so I am little bit surprised by the answers.

Simply put - because I have not chosen to use anything else.
