Monetizing an widget site? Need your help (4)
Hi guys and gals
I have one websites that serves iframed content to on a big number of sites. Right now it serving almost 5 million impressions per month. People use it to make slideshows on there sites. They are running my widget on a lot of hi authority sites such as government agencies all around the world, even ecom sites. I'm just shooting blanks on monetizing ideas
Does anybody have any recommendations or idea on how to monetize it?
Are there any "invisible" methods like collecting data and selling it?
I would not advise selling anything you have no right to sell, are your visitors having to register first before accessing the features. Are you capturing their emails because that's the first thing id be doing. If you have that much traffic you could kill it by building lists.
I assume you have adverts on your platform from the likes of TribalFusion or any other bigger advertising sites. I'm not 100% sure how your platform works so its a little tricky to advice. I'd likely stick a content locker on there and ask each visitor to complete one offer to access extra features, once only and see how it works out.

A litle more details on what's going on:
The site is used to make slideshows from user images. They select the images and get the code to place on their site.
The site get's about 100k visitors a month where they are making the slideshow widgets
There is no registration and im not capturing anything right now
Monetized by adsense it brings like $60 a month. The pageviews are low since everything is done quickly on the main page. They get the code and they are done
The bulk traffic is happening in the iframed widgets. About 5-6mil month. I think there's where the cash could be made
I was thinking on adding just popups but I'm afraid that the users are going to remove the slideshows from the site
Also, i thought about in image ads, but that's also a lil sketchy
I heard from somebody a while ago or read that there is in fact a way to monetize silently the traffic, but for the love of god i can't remember the details
If anybody could pitch in something I would greatly appreciate it

My advice... Get your visitors to register and collect emails, or, perhaps implement a social access login and have them share your site in exchange to use it along with some advanced feature. What you could do is add a charge on the service and offer it for free ONLY if they allow you to monetize any links used (via viglink). You have options that's for sure, good luck.
