Low ad rank...ads not showing

Hey everyone

I just launched a pay per call campaign on Adwords. It's Find a Plumber Now from Ring Partner. Google is saying my ad rank is too low and my ads aren't running.

My QS is between 7/10 & 9/10 depending on the ad. I've upped my max CPC to $3 to try and get it showing hoping to whittle my way down from there with good CTR and whatnot.

My question is this: Is this niche just too expensive to really compete in or should I raise my bid some more to get my ads showing? Also, it's been just under 24 hours. Does it take longer than that to get the ad rank up with my increased max CPC?

This is my first pay per call campaign and really my first affiliate campaign in general, so if I'm making a newbie mistake feel free to Gibbs slap me on the back of the head.

Ad Rank = CPC Bid x QS. Your QS seems good, so the bid must be too low.

Pay per call campaigns typically convert higher, especially on call-only and mobile focused traffic. So, you can afford to bid higher (around 40-50% of the payout to start).

Plumbing can be fairly competitive, you may want to try something else. But, you really need to find an angle or niche within the plumbing vertical. Instead of focusing on higher level keywords like "local plumber", "find a plumber", try keywords like "bathroom remodel plumber", "shower not draining", "new kitchen plumber", "emergency plumber", etc.

It can take a while for Google to adjust your ad rank, after you've made changes.

Best of luck!

How long are you talking? I created an ad and was blown away by two clicks and $8 spent. A world away from the mobile world that I'm used to.

I think it can take a week or longer for Google to get around to adjusting your QS from landing page or ad text changes you've made. PPC can take time to get to success.
