Landing pages?

As you can see I'm a beginner and i want to take things one step at a time, Should i completely learn how to create landing pages using html etc from scratch? Maybe just wordpress, or can i get away with just using landing page creators? What's your guys opinion on this? If this isn't as important as i think, whats the first thing i should focus on?

Learn to create them from scratch. Really.

You don't need to code them all in a text editor - Adobe Muse is fine as a way to make landers.

But you're handicapping yourself if you try to use shortcuts like prefab lander generators or Wordpress plugins.

If you use Wordpress, in particular, you'll be handicapping yourself with slow loading times, security problems, and limited design choices.

Sorry - this is one area where getting your learning done up front is absolutely worth the time!

I get by pretty well with my limited HTML knowledge - I COULD make one from scratch but it would take me a fair while to make anything looking nice.

If you learn simple HTML it’s easy enough to play with ripped landers and modify them to how you want them.

But yes this handicaps me in the sense that if I want anything totally custom made I have to pay someone else to do it.

Another member posted about Webflow.com and I'm currently using it. It takes a little getting used to but once you get it down it's pretty easy. It's mobile responsive and you can export the html for editing purposes.

A bit confused , you can't hand code in Adobe muse so how is this a fine way to create lander by hand coding?

@ryanfuse - you don't need to hand-code (much). In fact, it's a very inefficient way to work most of the time.

Generally the best way to create a lander is to use a graphical editor like Muse for 90% of the work, then hand-code anything you need to by working on the raw HTML after that.

Creating a lander from scratch and hand-coding it are not the same thing. I strongly recommend creating your landers from scratch, but that doesn't mean you need to create them in Notepad!

Hope that helps!

That helps @caurmen thanks for clarifying. I'm assuming your process looks something like this:

1) create website using Adobe muse
2) export to html and then strip out all the useless/extra JavaScript and CSS codes
3) insert what u need by hand coding it

Thanks again for clarifying

I agree, it is more optimal to make your own and you will benefit in the long run from the skills you hone. However, if you are crammed for time and want to run an offer when it's hot, an additional good route to take would be by asking your affiliate manager if their creative team can assist you in creating a few LPs to start.

Does any one have any experience using muse and webflow? Any advantages or disadvantages to either one?

Wow, just signed up for Webflow, it seems that it's really powerful and best of all it's free. It appears you can also clone existing layouts and just make changes yourself very quickly, that's amazing. It's a real WYSIWYG editor and not a wanna-be one.
