Spoofing UserAgent for LI or TV ?

Hi,

I want to know If it is possible to change useragent for PPV traffic, as LI and TV have fixed useragent ?

Thanks

Firefox has an excellent useragent switcher plugin called "Random Agent Spoofer". You may like it

I think he means spoofing the VISITOR'S user agent from the affiliate network/advertiser while direct linking on PPV.

Every user agent wouldn't be the same anyway. I see all different versions of Chrome/IE/FF even weird ass browsers in my TV/LI traffic, not to mention all different versions of windows and even some mac. There is no way all the user agents are going to be the same.

You would instead most likely get caught because of the referrer. In that case you'd need Double Meta Refresh or something similar to hide the referrer.

Also, dude I thought we were gonna chat on Skype! Add me!

User-agents are detected by interaction with the users browser.

Now, for PPV stuff (like, actual adware), it is possible for the user-agent to be fixed if the popups are through some separate adware browser client rather than the users browser. E.g. they have adware installed in Chrome, within Chrome it triggers a popup of a 1200x800 window through adwarebrowser.exe >> user-agent always the same.

There is no way to fake/hide this that I know of since you can't control what goes on once user's browsers are loading an affiliate link.

You could in concept run a browser VM inside your popup window, or some fancy iFrame-ish tech where the affiliate network sees that frame/VM as loading the link, but this is getting too complex.

You can use a double meta refresh, to remove referrer, but it doesn't for all browsers. If you Google it, there are some solutions to remove the referrer being carried into Chrome via a combination of DMR and Javascript frame.

And to randomize fake user agent, there is this method. Using Curl and picking a user agent from a list. Not tried it, but did look into it some time ago..

http://www.danmorgan.net/programming...-curl-and-php/

Using a combination of both could allow you to run some direct linked campaigns that are not for PPV.. or pop over other affiliate programs, BUT you need to think about some things.

How much extra page load time is all this going to add to your campaign?

Is it really worth it?

It is possible to spoof the user agent with PHP cURL.
But the problem then is that all your users will appear to come from the same IP, you server´s IP address.

Yeah, but you spoof the referrer to show that you came from a website.. and set up a blog on that domain with loads of advert banners etc.. I've seen it done loads, but it's certainly not a decent business plan lol

Yes, you can also spoof the referrer, that´s not the problem.
But then you still have the problem that the IP of all the users will show up as the IP from the server where you have your script running.
And that is by far much worse than having few faulty UAs.
But I don´t see OP´s problem at all, the suspicious user agents are a relict from the past.
Nowadays the big platforms like TV, LI, 50 and even Mediatraffic have clean user agents so there´s nothing to worry about.

Probably you're right..

Hence my question above, is it really worth it?

Just confirming, for TV and LI as I read somewhere they have some fixed number of adware and traffic is tagged/foot printed with those adware useragent. While in case of 50 its not a problem. Were you able to see variety in TV and LI useragents.

Thanks
