Howdy,
Happy to be here. I joined STM a couple of weeks ago. This is my first follow-along. Here’s my introduction if you’d like to know more about me:
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-to-connecting!
I’m focusing on sweepstakes offers and Google Display Network until I get a profitable campaign, so that’s what this folllow-along is going to follow.
I’d love to hear from any GDN experts out there, successful sweepstakes affiliates, and anyone who’s doing something similar… join me
I launched my first campaign on Friday. Here are the details:
Offer: Win an iWatch, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus (Email Submit) - Mundo Media
Geo: Netherlands
Payout: $1.12
Budget: $9/day per campaign
Bid: $0.24 CPC
Angle: I started with a basic angle to ride the coattails of Apple’s branding and launch campaign for the iWatch. The banners are all basic “Win an iWatch” language. The idea is that right now there’s a lot of interest in the product, and Apple’s a master of piquing interest and branding a launch. So the banners are an attempt to capitalize on the existing mindshare of the iWatch launch.
Landing Pages: Direct linking
Banners: They are nearly all animated, but I couldn’t figure out how to get them to animate in one large gif.

Language Targeting: English OR Dutch
DAY 1 & 2 RESULTS:

Top Placement by Spend: $1.20 spend, 6,315 impressions, 27 clicks, .43% CTR, $0.04 CPC
Campaign’s #3 & #4 - iPhone Carrier Site & iPhone Wifi Site
Spend: $2.61

Clicks: 14
CTR: .09%
CPC: $0.19
Revenue: $0
ROI: -100%
Top Placement by Spend: meh…
Actions I Took: I paused Campaign #1 since it doesn’t show any promise. I’m waiting for Campaign #2 to hit about $15 in spend.
Next Steps: Translate banners to Dutch; change targeting to “Dutch” instead of “English OR Dutch.” (The offer landing page is in Dutch.) If that doesn’t help, I’ll try a new angle. If the new angle doesn’t show any promise, I’ll launch a new sweepstakes offer.
Questions:
1) This offer is listed as having launched two and a half months ago. It has a network EPC of $.15. Is this a good time to get in on the offer, or is it already too late?
2) I’m following the Mobile Cookbook Appetizer approach, which doesn’t use landing pages. Is direct linking realistic for sweepstakes offers on GDN, or will I need landing pages to get conversions?
3) Should I start with narrower targeting on GDN than just “iPhone carrier/wifi app/site”?
Also welcome to other thoughts that can get this follow post headed in the right direction!
Thanks guys. Amazed that this place exists and looking forward to hearing from you!

Does the GDN allow these kind of offer?
I thought they didn't and you had to cloak somehow
Cloack it or your account will be gone very soon!
Yea your account will get shut down for running this kind of thing
Stop it completely if you wanna keep your account, or cloak it if you wanna be able to run it for a few more days/weeks!
