Sharing outcome of a small experiment I did

Hi,

I've just paused a campaign and I'd like to share the results, in order to give my small contribute to this forum.
This is not a classic affiliate marketing blueprint, because I'm affiliated directly to the merchant, not through an affiliate network.

Offer: online guitar lessons (jamplay.com). They pay 40$, if the user subscribe to the site. The users pays about 19.95$ to subscribe for 1 month
Traffic: Facebook

I know that on Facebook users are not in buying mode, but I wanted to test something very specific.

The online guitar site has plenty of teachers, among them you can find famous guys such as Bumblefoot (Guns 'n' Roses), Lita Ford and Steve Stevens, guitarist for Billy Idol.

I decided to target users with interests in "Steve Stevens" . This is a very specific audience, my reasoning is that people know very well Billy Idol but only guitar-guys know and have interest in his guitarist, Steve Stevens.

Demo: UK and US, 23-65+
total audience: 12.000 people
Desktop News Feed
CPC mode, max bid set manually at 0.35 euro

I used the tracking system of the offer, good enough to track what I needed

I created 5 ad with catchy image of Steve Stevens and proper copy

Here are some data:
Impressions: 3,873
CTR: 4.157%
CPC: 0.15 Euro

I made some optimization cutting AD with lowest CTR

Due the limited audience, this stuff is not scalable, I think.
I stopped the campaign after 5 days.
I made 1 sale ( about 34 euro) and spent 24.88

I wonder about the next steps:
1) stop the campaign and forget it
2) re-run the campaign, targeting only the age-range that had the highest CTR:
35-44 4.65% CTR
45-54 5.24% CTR
3) Tweak copy adding a coupon code that says something like this "Use this coupon code BFD4 and get 50% off" (I have that code)
4) Try sidebar and page post engagement?

A special thanks to Zeno for his awesome Facebook guide, I learned a lot (and still learning) from it.

any suggestion, questions and comments would be appreciated
thanks a lot
Gianca
