How much have you spent on this campaign??
Yep, could do with some more stats here. How many ads, what numbers of impressions, and what cost?
Also, what payout is your offer?
For the day, I capped it at $20 to see how well the campaign reacted and whether I have made any errors in tracking etc.
Alright now we can help you a bit more
Firstly, you’ve chosen to promote a very high payout offer. There is a (very rough) rule that you may see people mention about spending 2x the payout on testing.
If you were testing a $0.50 offer and you spend $60 testing it… You should have a good idea whether it’s going to work or not.
However if you spend $60 testing a $60 payout offer - you’re not going to have a clue if it works or not (because who knows, in your next couple of dollars spend after your budget it may convert 2 times, meaning you’re at 100% ROI all of a sudden).
It’s all about statistical significance.
Therefore….. Your total spend of $15 split over many variables (2 ads, many placements etc) is not neeeeearly enough to gauge any useful data from this campaign.
I would HIGHLY recommend if you’re new at this that you should stick to lower payout offers until you’ve learnt the ropes (unless you have a massive budget and don’t mind throwing away a LOT of money to learn).
Hey Ruby,
Thank you so much for taking the time out to keep in tact with my posting ^_^.
Yeah, I've had the same thought - and questioned my am why I was receiving offers with high payouts, although
the challenge was very fun!
The $15 split was so I could test out which websites were working with the CTRs and which ones weren't.
I will definitely have a talk with my AM and see if they can throw me any offers with lowers payout rates - and give that a shot!
No worries.
A great idea to test and look at those placements - but you need to remember there are a lot of variables at play here.
Lets say you spend $15 testing those placements, split over 2 banners. So 7.50 each banner. What happens if your banners are crap and even if you spent $200 on one if wouldn’t get a conversion.
You therefore have a bunch of sites which look like they’re no good - but in actual fact it’s just the crappy banner.
In my campaigns on sources such as Decisive I actually try to spend about 1.5x the payout on EACH placement. With a $60 payout and hundreds of sources, that’s a lot of testing.
You can keep trying these high payout offers if you’d like, but I do strongly suggest for learning purposes that you go for lower - you’ll make a lot of silly little mistakes along the way while you’re learning and it’s better to spend as little money as possible when learning the ropes.
If your AM can’t hook you up with any low payout offers - go to another network, there are plenty.
Yes indeed!
Just for clarity - when Ruby Tunes and I talk about "lower payout" offers, we're talking sub-$1 payout, ideally. We mean a lot lower!
