I'm wondering why some networks are asking for a copy of a photo ID? Is this a standard procedure or what? Seems kind of weird to send a photo of your ID to some company on the internet.
You trust them with thousands of dollar, but not your ID? Lol
Exactly as sleenirvana said. “Some company on the internet” with which you’re conducting real business transactions with.
Being an industry which is not devoid of scammers - it’s better to be safe than sorry with your money, business and reputation.
why is it that some ad networks require this from the advertisers, but yet they dont require this from their publishers, who are the cause of SHITTY FUCKING FRAUDULENT TRAFFIC?!
I noticed some started requesting these after the huge influx of cryptolockers.
Yep, we require a photo ID and the appropriate tax form. It helps cuts down on the fraud we get. We rarely have an issue with someone submitting an ID. If they dont want to submit one I usually assume there is an alternative reason other than just not wanting to submit an ID.
It's really on a case by case basis with our company. We have encountered a lot of fraud in the past with advertisers loading up campaigns with stolen credit cards... The reality is that if you ask the right questions, have the right systems in place and watch for "warning bells" you can mitigate a lot of the risk.
I recently had one ad network asked from my passport ID. Driver's license was not enough. They say its a company policy.
They also wanted screenshots of all my traffic sources and history payouts from all my ad networks.
Safe to say these were all warning bells for me to not run with them. I have to play it safe with all the identity fraud out there and with this company being located in china.
