Excellent Internet Based Business Models (7)

Excellent Internet Based Business Models

So as a business grad I often analyse business opportunities in terms of the model prior to getting all excited when hearing numbers.

Obviously the affiliate marketing business model is fantastic. It gives people the ability to make a huge amount of money in a day -- something you could never, ever do in a real, physical job. If you're an RMT and charge $100/hr you'd have to give 10 massages and have a heart attack to make a grand, etc.

I'm pursuing the AM model very heavily but I'm interesting in hearing peoples opinions of other good quality internet business models. What else are you guys into, if anything? What are you guys considering getting involved in?

Personally I was thinking of working with a few friends who are programmers -- they'll code everything, I'll write SEO friendly content and know about all of the topics, etc and we'll split equity in some variation whether 50-50/60-40, whatever. Is this model worth it? Is it a bitch for time? Can you make decent money? What are your thoughts?

I was offered equity in a pornographic tubesite but once I realized just how much time it was really going to take I decided to take a step back. I'll offer some help to my friends once in awhile but in my opinion, investing time into a project that time intensive/doomed to start would be very un-strategic and at 25 I cant afford to be wasting time. Shit, I'm going to be retired soon if time keeps going by this quickly.

"What defines a good business model?" -- Well, obviously, this question is very subjective. Though, I personally consider a good business model to be one that has the ability to yield high, high profits, has the ability to be put on autopilot after the initial intensive labour, can potentially be outsourced/managed by other people while still bringing in substantial profits -- and ideally, something where profits can be attained sooner than later.

What are your favourite online models? AM is great because it can generate quick cashflow when executed properly. But it's not consistent from what I've heard -- what are you guys doing to supplement the income. Or, where are you diversifying online?

I'm debating this niche site model, someone chime in on its feasibility.

And lets get a good convo going so we can diversify when we have appropriate capital

one that fulfils these 5 criteria

http://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/pages/about/

#1: The Commandment of Control.
As an entrepreneur, you want to control your business whereas no one entity can put you into bankruptcy. For example, will a Google algorithm change kill your business? Will Facebook change its Terms of Service for application calls and all of sudden you're out of business? Did that great affiliate program you've been hocking suddenly stop paying? Or change it's terms and now your shit-out-of-luck? The Commandment of Control eliminates 3rd party risks that can take down your business in one swift stroke. You can either paint your own big picture, or be a swab of paint in someone elses.

#2: The Commandment of Entry
Entrepreneurs are problem solvers. If anyone can mimic your business overnight by following a simple 1-2-3 step process, you're not solving any problems. In fact, the more difficult it is to start your business, the better the opportunity you have. The difficulty IS the opportunity. Fortunes are not made in a business you created overnight -- fortunes are made by solving problems and delivering value to the market in a strongly defended position.

#3: The Commandment of Need
Provide value. Solve a problem. Satisfy a want. Inspire someone. Make em laugh or cry. Make em healthy and vibrant. Bottomline? The market doesn't give a shit about your motives. It doesn't give a shit about your passions, your loves, or your desires to drive a Ferrari. Throw the GURU BS out the window if you want to succeed because the only thing the market wants to know is this: "What the f*ck can you do for me?". Fastlane Entrepreneurs are committed to providing value, fulfilling needs, and satisfying wants because they know it attracts money.

#4: The Commandment of Time
Making money is great, but what good is it if you don't have time to spend it? Or enjoy your freedom? The Commandment of Time specifies that your business must be able to detach itself from your time. This is accomplished by creative inventions that exist separate from your time. In other words, your time is divorced from the act of sale and distribution. It could be a book, a piece of software, a website, or a product custom built and branded imported from Mexico.

#5: The Commandment of Scale
In order to generate massive wealth, you must sell massive product, and have that product detached from your time. If you cannot sell 10,000 in one day and are limited in production and/or distribution, you will be limited in the amount of money you can earn. Examine your ceiling-- if you can touch it, you've got a scale problem. Start thinking bigger. To make millions, is to impact millions.mlm

Definitely a good post. Definitely things good quality models should entail.

That being said, anybody having success with other internet marketing methods? Monetized niche sites, selling a product on ClickBank, selling WSOs ?

Just trying to get some brainstorm going on what I'm going to pursue later on once I've cracked the AM code. I just like having a 5 year plan so to speak. Something I can tell all the women I take on dates -- they need to know that I have a 5 year plan (kidding).

Ideally -- high margin/not overly time intensive but of course putting in time is inevitable :]
