When to use landing pages and when not

Hi, it is amazing the amount of information in this forum. But the best advice I took was "do it!". So, while I still read a lot, I'm also trying a lot with, of course, no luck yet.

I bought CPVLab and started a couple of campaigns with rotating landing pages and rotating offers in one case.

Before continuing spending money I have a simple question about CPV/PPV

Is it advisable to use custom landing pages that link to email/zip submit offers, or it is better to direct link to those offers?

The only valid reason to use landing pages for email/zip submits is just because the popups are too small. But that's it. Am I wrong?

Anyway, I started a campaign in DirectCPV which don't use popups. I hope it gets approved before the end of the world in 2012...

Back to my question. Is it reasonable to say that it is better to use custom landing pages to pre-sell more complex offers that require credit card or more involvement from the visitor and direct link to email/zip submit offers?

Thanks!

Enrique

scrubbing of data is the reason in email submits that you ought to have your own data... just to check the discrepancies. I've seen up to 80% of leads getting shaved off in some networks

@eflouret - What I've found so far is that Landers work better for my particular campaign (iPhone). You can ask your PM if they can have the Advertiser to create a 800x600 for you. They may do it.

@sm1810 how do networks scrub data? always been confused when people talk about this.

i believe (i might be wrong! network owners come in and comment please!) scrubbing happens on the advertiser's side, not the network.
however, try to test the subs with all networks. dont stick to one i bet. see which one converts better and then stick to it, perhaps?

If you're planning on capturing the leads information yourself, obviously you NEED a lander. If you have no intention to capture the lead, the only thing that matters is which is more profitable =P

Generally when referring to scrub, it is in reference to the advertiser. Some networks do "shave" to offer an inflated payout price.

Definitely split test networks.
