Exoclick Budget Exceeded Issue? (9)

Exoclick Budget Exceeded Issue?

Quick question to Exoclick buyers.

This network is a new one for me. I was screwing around just to run some test budgets. I set the daily budget for the campaign at 50.00. I got the email that it was going to pause the campaign. All good there.

I logged in to see that they fulfilled the 50.00 budget in less than 1 hour (Germany, Desktop, XHamster 350x250 VID-A), so there's some force there for sure. I paused the campaign at 62.00 because it wasn't respecting the daily budget spend. It's still going even after I deleted the campaign. It's well over 100.00 so far, and double the impressions from where the 50.00 budget was set. Surely this is not just residual force of the campaign and caching to report? I deleted the campaign completely at 82.00 and it's still going. Haha. FYI, I did open the CPM nice and wide so I would get traffic quickly.

Anyone familiar with running something like this wide open with just a small budget and such a speedy fulfillment? Is it possible to have that much reporting still coming after the campaign is paused, and even deleted?

Thanks,

K

EDIT: Here is the response from EXO. These guys are on top of their support. I thought this would help any other EXO noobs if there is another person who didn't respect the power of tubes. HAHA.

Our system will automatically pause the campaign as soon as it notices that the daily capping and/or the budget have been reached, however please bear in mind in some cases this may take an additional 15-20 minutes after the budget has been reached as the servers need time to detect this.

Also the statistics page is updated after 15-20 minutes and for this reason you have seen changes on costs even after what you have deleted the campaign.

Your campaign settings and budget should be realistic. You should set a higher daily budget, according to the number of impressions targeted. Remember as a self service platform the targeting settings are ultimately decided by you yourself.

This is normal for exo click.

You'll find this type of delay on multiple sources, so keep that in mind when you launch on a small budget.

Exoclick Budget Exceeded Issue?

I always start off my first campaigns with a budget of $50 as for the bigger geos, esp us, it can easily shoot pass $50. (US with daily budget of $20 spent $129 on the first day.)

It's just one of the little quirks of the traffic source that you pay (at least it's just a small sum to you. Imagine if you used like $200 and up) to learn. If you want the spillover to be lesser, just set the budget at $20 and it should be fine.

Haha. Yah I knew I was going to get a quick fulfillment, but not that force. Haha. Pretty awesome actually. The money isn't a big deal, but it woke me up!

LOL.

Thanks guys!!!!

common thing with exoclick.

when launching in a new placement/geo you are unsure of in Exo, start off with a low cap/bid, then slowly creep it up until you get the "feel" of that placement. also keep in mind, their bidding system isnt exactly linear when you are bidding in a competitive area. when you hit the sweet spot, traffic will trickle to flood from a difference of a few cents

reminds me of driving a sports car with a really harsh clutch.

nothing...nothing...nothing...TRAFFIC EXPLOSION!

I guess this has happened to everyone who started with exoclick and went for a large GEO Btw : in some cases they are willing to refund the money, especially when the difference is too big, they did it for me when it happened for the first time. Now I always do this when starting a new campaign in exoclick when a large volume is expected : minimum bid for the particular targeting, daily budget $20, daily cap 1 ... I wait until the campaign is started and then tweak the settings based on the volume Im getting.

if you hit the budget too quick, you better go for a lower volume spot and let it run constantly! you will get more significant data for your buck.
