Complete Newbie to the game

Hello everyone,

I am a complete noob to the affiliate game but am determined to make it big. Never paid much attention to computers and technology and now I am running into quite a bit of challenges.
I have signed up with F5 media, decisive, downloaded prosper 202 and just got an account with Digital ocean for my VPS. Now I am stuck!
There's a lot of terminologies which I don't understand.

Do you guys know of any good resource or paid tutorial that can help me kickstart my first campagin?? I am a hundred percent commited but right now I definitely need some quidance.

Really appreciate your time to read this!

Hey Crispy,

Personally, I would use the free version of Voluum for tracking instead of prosper - I think you’ll find it a lot easier.

As for tutorials, you’ve come to the right place! You’ll find a lot of tutorials throughout the mobile section of the forums.

Zeno has made a kickass tutorial of how to set up a campaign with Decisive and Voluum: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ll-Video-Guide

If you need any other help and can’t find the answer on the forum, just ask! We’re here to help

Amazing!!!! Thanks Ruby! I am gonna get on it right now!
Reason I am using prosper is because two of my friends are also set up with prosper. We live in the same city so It makes it easier for them to answer my questions when I have a problem. I will look into Voluum tho! . Thanks again Ruby!

Okay yeah that’s fair enough. If you want to stick with that then I’m not gonna stop you

I just recommend Voluum over Prosper it because I think it’ll be a lot easier to split test landing pages etc.
I remember I used to get caught up and actually give up because I’d get stuck on prosper or got slack testing because of all the extra technicalities - I’m not such a techie guy either haha.

Good luck with the first campaign!

I recomand you using other source. Like startapp or go2mobi. Better then decisive !

I must say that video's instructions are still a bit too advanced for me. I was not able to understand a lot of it. I guess I need to be familiar with the fundamentals. And I will check out Voluum too!. Let me ask around I might just start using Voluum. Is it pretty popular among our AM peers?
Ruby you have any material that helps me understand the process in terms that an computer illiterate like myself would understand?

Sure. If I was you, I would put some time aside and read through EVERYTHING in the “Onboarding Zone” under the “Newbie Zone” section of the forums.

In that, Zeno explains the fundamentals and that should hopefully get you up to speed. Let us know if there’s anything specific you don’t understand and we will do our best to help you out!

I guess it's more of the fundamental and also the technical knowledge. I have read quite a bit in the onboard zone. I will , however, take your advice and revisit the tutorials!. Thanks Ruby!

Have you also read the "Getting Started in Affiliate Marketing” guide? If not, that’s also worth a read.

In terms of other technical aspects, you’re best to browse around the forum and go to the relevant sections. There are a ton of guides under the different sections.

If you have any questions that you don’t think are answered or if you’re confused about any of the material, feel free to post in the questions and answers sections with specific questions and we’ll do our best to help!

So Ruby, I feel like I wouldn't have much problem setting up a campaign. It is setting up prosper or Voluum to my server that I am stuck on. Perhaps I am misunderstanding it. It should be a somewhat simple process. I know that Prosper would be automatically set up if I purchased a VPS from beyond hosting. I didn't go that route and bought a server on digital ocean. So that is where I am currently stuck at.

Any tip for me Ruby??

Okay so there’s a big difference here between Prosper and Voluum.

Prosper you will need to download, set up and host on your own server - as you already said.

Voluum is hosted. Which means you don’t need to download/install it. It’s already set up on their website and hosted for you.

Which do I recommend? As I said before - I’d go with Voluum. Here’s only a couple of reasons...
- You don’t have to install it
- Easier to rotate landing pages
- You don’t have to worry about data files getting too big and slowing down your tracker (as I experienced a lot on Prosper)

PS - I’m not affiliated with Voluum, it’s a non-biased opinion :P
