Best server option for multiple VMs

Hey guys!
What would be the best and money efficient option for running multiple VMs somewhere in the cloud?
I guess just some higher-end Linux VPS with GUI (Full Ubuntu for example)?
Or do I need dedicated server?

Storage seems way too low
One VM requires about 15GB

Hey Tomsko, you have different options here.

1. You can buy a single bare metal (or nested virtualization) box and provision several VM with vmware esxi or linux kvm to use.
2. Rent each vm for each project and upgrade/downgrade it based on demand.

Do you needs require vps or highly available cloud scale servers? One thing to note is a VPS won't get rebooted on another server if the hardware fails, a true cloud server will.

That's one of the key differences that a lot of providers won't tell you. We use distributed storage and ha (high availability) on all servers.

This isn't a sales floor.

In the future please answer OPs question if it's your area of expertise rather than just trying to sell them with no merit.

Get dedicated at hetzner.de, make sure you take SSD (they are cheap).
Worked well with 30+ VMs opened at same time.

Thanks! This is actually looking really good

I've personally used hetzner, the support is worthless and the hardware is all built on consumer desktop motherboards. I had a storage server with 12 3TB drives, they had to reboot it every 30-40 days because the motherboard nic firmware would crash.

They do offer some dell R720/R730 which should be a decently reliable offer!

I agree about that one, stay away from hetzner.
I don't know if you need your servers offshore but in the usa I use wholesaleinternet.net
They're pretty cheap if you ask me.
If you want a server in NL/Germany then I would suggest leaseweb. I'm a reseller there so if you're interested in a server there I can get you a cheaper price and you don't have to pay taxes then if you live in europe.

go with ovh as you have free ips and vmware for virtualization

Be aware that hetzner don't allow adult content at all on their servers. I have had problems with that last year.
