TrafficFactory CTR problem (7)

TrafficFactory CTR problem

I used TrafficFactory for about two years with great success, but in the last few months it has become hard to achieve high CTR. When you add a new banner, a lot of times it gets around 0.30% CTR and then it drops to like 0.15% in 30 min or so. For no apparent reason.

Did you have a similar experience with TrafficFactory? Any solutions?

Hmmm since you are a veteran at TrafficFactory I don't know if this will help:

But when you add a banner it gets placed into casting, where you get an inflated position. Typically number one (Ive sometimes been at 3). So essentially your at top regardless of bid, and this position gives you a decent CTR. Once casting is over, it looks at your ctr and bid and places you into your real position. (This could very well happen after 30 minutes).

So for example, after casting is finished you could drop from position one to position 5+ which is a shiter place to be and often leads to lower CTR's at this spot.

Are you holding the number 1 spot after casting is done? Even then on competitive placements, I feel it says number 1 but you have a few people in casting in front of you as well, so you could be really 3-4.

CTR drops even before the casting is over. i got 7 clicks for the first 2000 impressions, and then zero clicks for the next 2000 impressions. and that what seems strange to me.

Damn dude you watching your campaigns like a hawk!

Cant say if it happens to me, never looked at my stats that early. But it if you have a statistically significant sample size then it must have something to do with where the ads are being placed in the beginning and then after 30 minutes

Have you tried using a proxy and watching where your placed in the beginning then loading it up again 30 minutes later and checking where you are then?

I just got this message from my account manager at Trafficfactory, anyone want to speculate what this actually means?

The Traffic Factory's platform had an update recently, please see the following info:

More targets means higher conversions but less traffic and over the last couple of years we have added more ways to target users that convert best for you. The idea is that since our platform is based on Real Time Bidding, advertisers would increase their bids as their targets got more specific. While this has been true for many advertisers, it has lead to the inevitable conversation of how can you get more traffic from us. Great news! We have reevaluated the ad distribution and it now allows us to increase our targeted traffic to those advertisers willing to pay for it.

Keeping with the business model of bidding for placement, we are now able to send more traffic to our top bidders than we had in the past.

I think what they basically say that they don't care about your CTR, they only care about how high can you bid

Don't think so since their whole P/L is in the end based on eCPM isn't it ?
