I recently started getting into PPV and haven't had any success yet other than a few leads here and there.
This week I launched multiple polls on both Leadimpact and directcpv. I used affexpert to scrape 1-2k urls related to the poll niche. Most of the urls are longtail although there are a few top domains in there that are relevant. I haven't received much traffic though, I gotten maybe 500-1k views per poll.
My CTR has been around 2-10% per poll and I've only had a couple conversions.
I'll show you one poll just to see if I'm doing something wrong.
Who's the better Lyricist: Eminem or Lil Wayne?
Landing page: http://10kpermonth.info/emvswayne/
Lead impact views: 559
CTR: 5.90
Clicks: 33
CR: .18% with 1 conversion
Engage (3sec): 47%
Spend: 8.39
Rev: 1.35
I've tried both with animation and without, with audio and without. Numerous polls in different niches. They all seem to stick around 2-10% ctr and only a conversion here and there.
What should I be doing differently? Just launching more polls? Different urls? Different lander? Test more traffic/urls first? (although they wont send me much traffic even for top level domains like eminem.com)
Subscribing to this one buddy - I ran some LI stuff with pretty tepid results. I did get that one dating lander profitable on one Set of urls, but very little volume. I'd like to see how the pro's play the game.
Hey jleone,
There's quite a bit of variables here, and no clear answer on what to do. Which is just how affiliate marketing is, all about testing.
My first question is, what offer are you promoting, and is it a proven converter? (Ask you AM how it's converting across the board).
2% CTR for this type of offer is pretty bad, you'll want at least 10%.
I can tell you that your CTR is on the lower end because you ad topic isn't "WOAH". With PPV you need to stop people in their tracks! You do this with "WTF-like content, big news, controversial topics, etc..". Think of what would stop you in your tracks. The topic doesn't have to be truthful or even make sense. That will make your biggest difference when it comes to CTR. Then try different versions of your landing page, different colors etc, it all will bring in much different results.
Next you'll want more traffic. I don't know why your seeing so little, are you bidding a lot lower than your competition?
I know LeadImpact is a fav among many PPV advertisers, so the traffic and the quality is there, just need to rework a few things.
As for the offer I just saw that it's very closely related to my niche but I haven't checked the conversion rate, I'll find out about that.
You did give me some good ideas for this. I never really thought about it but you're right, the content doesn't necessarily have to be real or true, this opens for much more interesting topics. I should be able to get a better CTR. I'll play around with this and build more pages.
As for traffic I'm thinking it might be because of my budget. I contacted directcpv yesterday and they told me once you get to a certain $$ amount in the account then traffic slows, I'm assuming thats the same for leadimpact. I'll raise my budget much more and see if that brings in a lot of traffic. I am bidding #1 for 98% of my url's at the base .015cpv.
I'll report back later once I get some new campaigns running/tested!
Just wanted to give an update on this.
My traffic is fine now, I upped my budget and instantly started getting the traffic I need. I changed around some polls and noticed a boost in CTR, today they have all been between 10-20% so its getting better - a little more tweaking and I'll have it.
Conversion rate is what I'm struggling with the most now. I'm getting the clicks but a lot of stuff isn't converting. I'm not sure how to tell if its the offer, demo, lander or what. I'm using a wide range of submits for my landers - most of them are very good according to my AM's. How can I get that CR up?
Usually when CTR goes up, it's for a reason that will lower your CR. They don't always work together. So you need to add in info into your landing page that will prep the viewer to become a conversion. This info may lower your CTR a bit, but it'll be worth it if it increases CR. You have to sell them on the fact of whatever your offer is, if there not pre-sold before they land on the offer your CR will never reach its top potential.
