Hey guys,
STMer and 6WAMCer here!
I'm still in an endless search of my first profitable campaign and I've got really tired of being all over the place and chasing the affiliate bandwagon, so this time I decided to stick to adult dating no matter what will follow. Before trying to hit this as hard as I can though, I have two questions for the more experienced adult guys.
I've been doing some spying and it seems that there's absolutely ZERO creativity in this industry. Everyone has been using exact same rules lander for years now. My question here is, how is it possible for this method to be still working after all these years? So is this still the best type of lander ever discovered in the history of adult marketing? Should I just do the same then? I can go ahead and copy them and if it really works as good as it seems, then it will be the easiest money ever (too good to be true I think...) or I can try and get as creative as I can and do something completely new. So what do you guys think about this? I'm confused.
My other questions is. Do you think it's worth doing whatever it takes to stay away from any English speaking geo? Can it really make or break my profitability? You can call me lazy, I won't blame you but it seems like hard work to me getting all those translations done when with English speaking countries I can literally launch a campaign within just 10 minutes. Also, I used OHT for the first time last week and it wasn't as cheap as I expected. For 10 320x50 mobile creatives and an LP it costed my close to $15. Say I have to invest in 20 campaigns before seeing any green, then I would have to pay an extra $300 just for getting my stuff translated. What's your opinion about this? I'm really curious about it.
Okay, that's all I need to know for now. Sorry for writing too much, I tend to do that when I post.
Hey badimo,
Bear in mind that I'm no pro, and I'm a bit green to be going all sensei and everything but....
From my experience thus far, when it comes to creativity and ripping what is out there, I'd say do both.
What's out there has been proven to work and so you at least have something to compare your creativity/innovations to.
You never know, a bright new idea can certainly yield awesome metrics that will contribute to a successful and profitable campaign, but I think it pays to know where it stands in comparison to the current standard.
As for your second question, I think any geo is profitable, even if you want to go English-speaking.
I find that with English-based campaigns, I have more flexibility and room to move when it comes to creativity.
However, on the flip side, you'll need to niche out and find good traffic source placements since everyone's fighting and outbidding each other for the popular ones.
A business principle that I follow states that my actions should be dictated by what my customers/audience/data tells me, not just what I think is best.
if you are going to just rip and place it back exactly on the same traffic source and same country, then chances are its not going to work out too well, but if u try a different traffic source and different country? that might bring in some $$$$, but not as much as u hope probably.
and also if u do some testing to improve the lander/banner, u will realise that while on bigger traffic sources that only adds maybe... 10-15% ROI? but on other golden/smaller traffic sources i see differences of like 100-300% ROI, of course the traffic there is alot less but hey thats still $$$
usually non english speaking countries would be better, think of this as hurdles. the harder it is to do, the less the competition, and that really helps the profit especially for the new guys who cannot compete in US UK
as for the $$$ involved, to be honest its really small, maybe the payout seems very little, like $1-2, but hey that has scale and when it works u can easily rake in x,xxx/day. compare this to a traditional brick and mortar business? im from singapore and if u are going to start anything here its at least 50-100k, so xxx would be considered cheap, even 10k to start affiliate marketing is cheap IMO. you will need to set aside a budget of 5000 and be ready to spend it on translation, traffic costs, VAs if u are going to succed.
Thank you guys for your inputs. Everything you said sounds totally right and I'm going to follow all of your advice.
