Ecommerce Guru/Guidence

Hi there,

I've recently delved into the world of E-commerce with my own Magento store; does anyone have any experience with this who'd let me pick their brain for an hour or 2 via Skype?

We're doing a decent amount of sales & slowly testing different things in our pages but the traffic is just so different day-to-day and its hard to get an accurate reading of whats good vs whats bad conversion wise. I'm hoping that there's some dark horse out there who's a dab hand at Ecommerce and can give me some pointers!

Thanks

I'm assuming you're selling a large range of product as you're running on Magento, but depending on your industry AdWords PLA and retargeting with social can work quite well.

In terms of testing your pages, look at how the large ecommerce sites structure their product pages - especially amazon as they do heaps of split testing.

(Not a pro at Ecommerce, but has worked in the area a bit)

Thanks for the input bud,

Yeah we have around 200 products, and 4 different sizes per product.

Our first site went pretty well & were currently updating it to a much better one which is why I was trying to get some pointers and advice. The biggest thing we've struggled with is reducing load speeds on the site to cater mobile users. Since Magento is pretty complex it takes forever to load. We've just got a enterprise licence so hopefully that should fix a couple of issues & the new site is being coded to load much quicker than the previous design.

I'm really wanting some product page & checkout advice. I've looked all over for case studies & reports/tips but theres not much out there other than the obvious.

A lot of it comes down to testing - as one layout that works for a particular shop may not work for another shop. Have you tried looking up CRO resources for ecommerce sites?

i worked a lot with magneto and systems built on magneto for the UKs largest sports nutrition company. Picking the right hosting was key and I had to manually reduce all image sizes and make them as small as possible. It's such a simple thing to do but it did help. Code is obviously key though, the company I worked with were really good and the coding was so clean it helped a lot.

I can get you the details of the company used if you like. I'm sure they can give you some advice.
