"Company name" and "website" when signing up for affiliate networks

I'm new to signing up for affiliate networks, and I don't know what to put for the "What is your company name" and "Website URL", so I usually do these two things:

1. explain that I'm an individual and haven't created an LLC or a legitimate company yet.
2. put a website I used for SEO and PPC purposes.

But I don't want to be doing this wrong and decrease my chances of getting into a network. Any tips?

Well not having company does put you in a newbie position and some networks might not want you, but as long as you are legit that shouldn't be a problem with most networks.

It shouldn't be hard to get into a network and you certainly do not need a company or even the need to explain why you don't have a company.
You're an individual, so in company name you can simply put your name, don't get too bothered about this, there is more networks than publishers for them all, once you start making enough money they will beg for your business, they work for us not the other way around, strongly disagree with the guy above.

If you're within the U.S., then you don't need an LLC to be a legitimate business.

You can run as much business through your SSN as you want, though I'm not sure I'd trust most networks with my SSN!

You don't need a website to join most networks, but I'm sure it helps. You could put up a tumblr site really easily and purchase a domain for that tumblr site easy too! Any information you can give to make yourself legitimate, do it!

For me it's been easier to get acceptance now days (vs a year ago) to have a registered company and a company website. 100% acceptance to all networks so far last past month including large networks like Clickdealer with minimal questions.

The cost to register a company is minimal in most states. I think in your state NY it shouldn't be more than $125 depending on what county you are in. The cost for an EIN is zero.

The aggravation and time saved in the application process far exceeds the cost.

Thanks for the responses guys.

@thebrent I have a domain or two floating around and I'm already paying for the hosting, so I'm thinking I'll make a Wordpress site out of one, make it look professional, and just link to there for the applications (at least for now). Thanks.

Just plonk a 1 pager from Themeforest - takes only 15-20 mins and makes you look professional

@flyingcake: Themeforest looks legit. Unfortunately I'm poor so I need to save my cash for other expenses at hand. May come back to it later though, thanks.
