Is this possible? detecting user's cell phone number on a lander

Hey All,

i'm driving Mobile traffic to a survey lander at the end of the survey i'm collecting cellphone numbers, so the user enter their number manually and than they click on the call to action button "send"

i'm just wondering if is there any code/script that can automatically detect the user cell phone number and pre-populate in a field on the landing page...so the user when they land on a page where i'm collecting numbers they will find their cellphone number already inserted in the field all they have to do is click the call to action button "send"

This will typically increase the opt-in rate.

Anyone has any idea?Any help will be appreciated!

Can't be done on a landing page. Javascript doesn't have access to underlying system - for security.

Something related to this happened to me a few weeks ago, was browsing with my smartphone and out of curiosity clicked on an ad. Few seconds later I get an SMS informing me about a weekly subscription for 4,99 or something. Turns out I had not activated the third-party-supplier block at my provider.

Is it technically possible?

Sure.

Is it likely to be something you case use?

Depends.

It is technically possible to get MSISDN of a user visiting a site if

1) the user is on mobile data (not wifi) AND
2) the mobile network supports the passing of the MSISDN in the HTTP headers, AND
3) the legislation in the country in question allows the mobile network to do this

Generally the answer in most major geos is no for 2 and 3.[/FONT]

4) and your server has to be whitelisted by the carrier, or the MSISDN is not sent in the headers.
