Where would you start a Affiliate company? (3 Employees in the beginning)

So I'm thinking about setting up a legit affiliate business with an office and to start with around 3 employees, each assigned one role: spying, optimization, banner design etc. I might even give employees there own traffic sources to specialize in.

The reason I want to do this:
1. Economics of Scale (Most spying tools / memberships are fixed price, base fees, company fees etc)
2. I have a lot of ideas, but the grunt work to do it is annoying
3. I feel a cohesive team in the same building will be easier to manage, than spread out.
4. Globalization of labour is huge and been happening for decades, its only going to get worse and I want to get in on it!
5. I went to Advidis office and its bad ass!

Two major things Im looking for:
1. Cheap and Good Labour
2. A good place to live or at least spend 3-6 months out of the year there
3. I need to be able to get a good visa (Australian) so I can stay for extended periods of time.

Have you guys ever thought of this? Where would you set up shop? Any advice?

My thoughts are:
1. Manila, Philippines - Cheap labour and for $75k investment I can buy my self residency (Haven't been, so not sure about it)
2. Poland - Cheapish labour and the Girls are smoking hot! (I can bounce between work visas in the EU)
3. Panama - 0 income tax on foreign income, cheap labour (But kinda hated living there for the 3 months I was there)

I'd DEFINETELY do Poland. You're in Europe that's a BIG advantage when you need to travel.

It fits the criteria you mentioned.

This area used to be big on steel mills, when they all closed it became the "Rust Belt".

Now there are so many affiliates its been renamed the "Rebill Belt"

But the main thing is low cost of living and cheap labor with first world infastructure.

Are you sure you can buy real estate in the Philippines? I know that you can't buy real estate in Thailand and Myan Mar as a foreigner for example . Just wondering :-)

From what I've read (which is the same as Thailand), you just cant buy land. So you free to buy Apartments / Condos and I would assume offices.

Not sure about that. I heard from a lot of guys who got married to Thai girls and bought houses etc and after being divorced the ladies took everything backed up by laws etc :-)

But i would have to look that up as well to be 100% sure.

*** ok, google said that buying condos in Thailand should be no problem. But you may only own 49% of it.

As a foreigner you may not own land and houses built on that land.

Google also says, that the same is true for the Philippines: Condo yes, but you can own only 40%. No land, no house***

Why did you hate living there? Just curious because I'm moving there in 2 weeks, staying on the coast in Pamama City.

A good infographic on the cost of living in every country: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...LE-infographic!

No point knowing the bad if your already going!

Some of the good:
- Sneak into the Trump Hotel Pool (just go around the back of the place and there is an elevator that will take you up, its pretty boss!)
- The Hard Rock Hotel has an awesome rooftop bar, really good time (You can also sneak into there pool and go to there lobby for free chill wifi!)
- Make sure you do a San Blas trip
- Go to Bocas Del Toro, in a hostel called Aqua lounge they have a trampoline to jump into the ocean, its amazing!)

Berlin
Pros: one of the cheapest major european cities, best nightlife in all of Europe imho, startup capital of continental Europe, young population, easier to get self employed and new business visas that the rest of Germany, awesome summers, low wages (is common for startups to pay 10-15 eur an hour)
Cons: german bureaucracy, need professional help if you want to get everything in order without much confusion and pain, winter

Edit: if your australian and under 31 you can get a 1 year work/holiday visa easily

Yeah Berlin is a solid option, its just not for me though.

I personally dont like that the clubs only get going around 12am-1am plus the chicks are to alternative for me (Bull nose rings, huh?)

Even 10 Euro an hour is rather high compared to Philippines and Poland

Fair points. Also, just being a foreigner def doesn't win you any easy points with Berlin girls unlike Poland I'm also Australian btw, been living in Berlin for the last year.

Penang, Malaysia
Polar and I have our office out there.
Great internet & infrastructure
Super food
Most people speak English as well as many know Chinese
Great work ethic
Staff are proactive (unlike some other places where you have to spell it out)
People respect employment and their employer. Lots of trust.
Well educated
Low cost

If you're considering Poland then there are a few other eastern and eastern-northern EU countries that you could look into. Shoot me a PM if interested and we can discuss it further.

Awesome I will look into Penang!

Just some quick questions, how often are you at your offices? Are you good to go away for 3 months and everything runs smooth? Do you trust them to handle credit cards and bank accounts?

Can recommend Penang as well. Was visiting a friend of mine there for 3 months who is working for OSRAM. He's been living in Penang for 7 years. Nearly everybody speaks english, food is cheap but very good, people are friendly, the border of Thailand is not far away (Danok) etc etc

Estonia High internet speeds (up to 400mb), great IT education (skype, playtech - both were started and still have their HQs here). Low labor costs (average salary is still at around 1k eur), even in Tallinn. Adcash, btw, have an office in Tallinn.

The weather is reserved which stimulates wanting to work, rather than chill on the beach

If you get a great team lead / office manager then yes that should be fine. But expect to be there 6-12m full time to train & build up the business. And if your a small business you keep control of the money. Don't delegate that apart from maybe petty cash.

Estonia and Poland are good options, I dont know other ones so wont comment them but these two are good for your gameplan.
