Appetiser Mobile Follow Along

Hey everyone!

I'm a new member on STM and am diving straight in to the Mobile Cookbook, starting with the Appetiser.

I've signed up with F5Media and requested the top performing offers. From these, I have chosen the UC Browser offer for Indonesia, due to it meeting the recommended criteria: Payout under $1, outside US and strong performing. In addition, they have a few other GEOs as well (Viet Nam, India and Russia), so can potentially be rolled out if this becomes profitable.

Offer: UC Browser for Android
Country: Indonesia
Traffic Source: Decisive
Network: F5Media
Payout: $0.32

Brainstormed a few angles, came down to a choice between browser speed and a desktop style UI. Plumped for load times as the angle for this one, and went with the (horrendous, I know..!) banners below.

Set up 4 campaigns, Mobile App, WiFi App, Mobile Site & WiFi Site.

SmartCPM set with a goal CPA of $0.48 (1.5x the payout of $0.32 ), each campaign with no budget and a daily limit of $8.

I launched these campaigns this morning, so now we sit and wait until I have some data!

I'd love to hear any feedback/advice/criticism... and I'll keep you guys in the loop!

Thanks,

Marco

Well done on getting started!

Most urgent thing: you're targeting Indonesia, but the banners are in English. Whilst Indonesia has a fair number of people who speak English, they're still in the minority to the best of my knowledge - I'd get those banners translated and run them in Indonesian too.

caurmen- I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't even thought of that.... <facepalm>

I'll launch a mirror campaign with Indonesian language banners to run in tandem.

Do you recommend getting a native speaker to do the translation or does a Google translate normally suffice?

one thing to consider is trying a different traffic source in addition to D.

I think that the "have a faster browser" angle was used so often by ppl following the cookbook that the placements on D are pretty much saturated. I would even go so far and say that many F5 offers are already saturated on D, especially the 'top performing'. Think about how many follow allongs we have and my guess is not all people who try the cookbook do a FA... your doing the same thing hundreds of other people are doing.

I don't want to talk you out of your campaign or scare you. I just want you to be successful and my advice is find a traffic source that not everyone and their dog is using. You will have more success thinking a little out of the box, as usual

I see so many ppl doing the exact same thing over and over again, wondering why it doesn't work and then quit out of frustration.

Whatever you do, I wish you the best

Thanks Luther88, that's good advice and definitely something to consider.

So... a quick update on the state of everything so far.

Spent roughly $4 over a period of about 36 hours- the results have been unspectacular, to say the least! Screenshot of performance below:

Just now, I've had an email from Decisive rejecting the creatives due to a 'malware flag'. Odd- has anyone else noticed this issue before? I assume that something is flagging UC as malware, but I'm also unsure if the banners are tripping something here as well.

Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this, and whether it is Decisive not liking UC, or not liking my banners on this one?

Edit: seanyboy, we managed to post at the same time! Thanks for that, really helpful!

Definitely go with One Hour Translation. Google Translate can give some interesting results (Stackman did a great test with it a while back) but a native speaker is far more likely to give you a translation that's actually accurate.
