Game angles?

I am curious.. other than "beat your friend/competition" (i.e. social approval)... I can't really think of angles for games (i'm not a gamer at all).

Can someone suggest some ? Perhaps links to guides / how-tos?

Depends WILDLY on the game. If you give us an example game we can probably fire some angles back.

One important thing to remember with games is that you're selling entertainment not needs. You've got to think about the fantasy you're selling as well as the reality of the activity, and what benefits that provides.

Don't underestimate "be less bored" as one of those benefits. Games are passtimes - if you can promise someone that they can pass their downtime with a game in an entertaining way, that's a solid sales pitch.

Gaming totally depends on the target genre.

Puzzle Games / Challenge games I would target the persons intelligence "Are you smart enough to complete this puzzle in less than 30 seconds?"

Racing Games / Sports games I would be as relative as possible "Try the new Z5 BMW on the Nürburgring track" "Play through the entire UEFA cup"

RPG / Fantasy - "Collect Items, Smith Armour, Cast Spells and Build Entire Civilizations"

The list goes on and these are very generic but you get the idea.
